couple enjoying dinner at a restaurant in Westbrook Maine The tenth of Maine’s Main Street America communities and the fastest-growing city in the state, Westbrook has been undergoing an ongoing revitalization and transformation.

The industrial mills that were formerly powered by the mighty Presumpscot River now house businesses and artist studios, just one of the reasons more and more people are coming to Westbrook.

All the more reason for the city to offer a wide selection of places to eat; you’ll find a diverse variety of culinary options on offer throughout Westbrook—something to fit every taste, budget, and atmosphere preference.

Map Of Westbrook Restaurants

The map below shows the locations of every restaurant mentioned in this post:

The Frog & Turtle

Featuring a tavern-style vibe, an upscale pub menu, and live entertainment, The Frog & Turtle is a great spot to meet up with friends for nosh and a drink—or to take the family for a night off from cooking.

There is a variety of fare on offer—everything from starters like charcuterie boards and PEI mussels to entrees like Ribeye and Seared Salmon. You’ll also find five signature flatbreads in two sizes—10” and 16”—as well as specialty burgers and sandwiches.

No matter what you order, it’s all delicious and made from scratch…but I recommend the Jalbert Burger, which comes with bacon, bleu cheese, mushrooms, a Dijon BBQ sauce, and either fries, onion rings, or a salad on the side.

Location: 3 Vallee Square (formerly 3 Bridge St), Westbrook, ME 04092

Casa Novello

Touted as “Greater Portland’s best-kept secret,” Casa Novello is much-lauded by customers for excellent service, fantastic Italian fare, and creative cocktails. Featuring fresh ingredients like hand-tossed pizza crust, house-made marinara sauce, and fresh pasta, the menu at the family-friendly Casa Novello has something for everyone.

There is also a full bar as well as a delightful dessert menu, so plan on staying awhile. Maybe start by sharing a Caprese Salad and an order of Fried Ravioli for the table, the Shrimp Piccata for your meal…and for dessert? A cannoli, of course.

Stockhouse Restaurant & Sports

Offering a huge, pub-style menu, over 20 flat-screen TVs for sports, and a casual, friendly atmosphere, the Stockhouse Restaurant is a local favorite. Choose to sit in the dining room, at the bar, or outside on the patio to enjoy the house-made food and ice-cold drinks, all served with a smile.

And as for what to choose from the enormous menu? There are far too many delicious items to list here, but perhaps opt for the Specialty Mediterranean Quesadilla: Sun-dried and fresh tomatoes, feta, Kalamata olives, and the house two-cheese blend baked in a soft flour tortilla, served with balsamic vinaigrette.

PHOever Maine

Choosing a catchy, cute name that would pay tribute to their home country and the great state of Maine (to which they immigrated in 1989), the owners of PHOever Maine have one business philosophy: To only serve food they’d serve to their own family, using as many local ingredients as possible.

Whether you’re a fan of their spectacular pho (pronounced “fuh”) or not, there are plenty of other options available on this expansive menu full of authentic flavors and textures. Sometimes—because I just can’t bear to have one or the other—I get an order of Pho Ga Chicken along with the Grilled Beef Banh Mi.

Bamboo Bistro

Serving traditional as well as creative takes on Thai and Vietnamese fare, Bamboo Bistro is another popular Asian restaurant in Westbrook for brunch, lunch, dinner—and happy hour. Customers rave about the generous portions, fresh and authentic fare, and fabulous cocktails on offer at Bamboo; the huge bowls of pho have been described as seemingly bottomless.

The latter is my favorite; there’s something about assembling your own tasty creation that appeals to me, and I love the Rare Steak version. I add all the fixings: Basil, Asian cilantro, bean sprouts, jalapeño slices, and a squeeze of lime.

Location: 1 Cumberland St, Westbrook, ME 04092

Veranda Kitchen & Bar

Owned by the same family that runs three Vietnamese and Thai restaurants by the same name in Portland, the Veranda Kitchen & Bar’s menu is naturally over 90% gluten-free, and most of the ingredients used are sourced from local farmers’ markets.

Choose from made-from-scratch favorites like steamed dumplings, pan-fried rice noodles, orange chicken, curry, pho, and fried rice dinners—and order your favorite Asian-style cocktail to go along with your meal.

Blazes Burgers

When your belly is asking “where’s the beef?”, point your feet toward Blazes Burgers and make tracks, because these babies are true works of hamburger art. No pre-formed, cardboard-like, frozen patties here, people.

You’ll get six ounces of fresh beef (unless you order the three-ounce small version—and why would you??), piled with the toppings and cheese of your choosing…and if you don’t feel like making too many choices, opt for one of Blazes’ Signature Selections. Every option comes with an order of fries or tots (and we all know that tots are just more fun)—but be sure to tell them which one you want, because the default is fries (which are also fabulous, mind you).

And for any non-beef-eaters in your group, there are plenty of other options available, like chicken-centric items, grilled cheese, clam cakes, and hot dogs. But why would you do that at a place with “Burgers” in its title? Go for the Breakfast Burger: Bacon, a fried egg, and your choice of cheese on top of a six-ounce patty.

Big Fin Poké

As lively and colorful as a Hawaiian lei, Big Fin claims to have been the first poké restaurant in Maine—and who am I to argue? If you’re a fan of raw tuna—which I absolutely am—you’ll be in heaven here.

And because there are other cooked protein options, including tofu, beef, and chicken, you don’t need to love raw tuna to love Big Fin. Choose to build your own bowl (start with a rice or greens base, pick a protein and sauce, select your mix-ins and toppings), or order from one of Big Fin’s list of favorites (like the Hawaiian Original—Ahi tuna, Hawaiian sea salt, sesame oil, Togarashi, BF Shoyu sauce, sweet onion, scallions, seaweed salad, crab salad, pineapple, cucumber, avocado, fried onion, and sesame seeds).

Location: 95 Rock Row Suite #150, Westbrook, ME 04092

There are many other just-as-worthy restaurants located in Westbrook—but there’s just only so much space here. So please be sure to consider these other fine establishments when looking for fabulous fare while visiting this fine city.
