Putting. Fairways. Greens. Par. Typically, when I hear these terms being bandied about, I tend to kind of…fade away. The conversation becomes an irritating, background buzz whilst I take care of some critical mental task like contemplating what color socks to wear the next day.
If you haven’t guessed, I’m not a golf fan. But it turns out that these terms also apply to another similar—yet just different enough—sport that just may win me over, despite those similarities.
If you’re not familiar with disc golf, it’s kind of like golf, but with frisbee-like discs instead of balls, and raised baskets instead of holes.
If this sounds interesting to you and you’re willing to drive a bit, living in Bangor means you’re within an hour’s commute of plenty of opportunities to give disc golf a shot—no plaid pants required.
