Bangor tattoo artist

A Bangor tattoo artist

One of the many fascinating things I’ve learned in this Exploring Maine journey is that there is never any lack of excellent tattoo studios located within any of our state’s fine cities—and Bangor is no exception.

Whether you’re looking to test the waters with a tiny, unobtrusive bumble bee on your ankle, eradicate the memory of she-who-must-not-be-named from over your heart, or perhaps finally have that botanical sleeve finished on your right arm, you’ll have plenty of talented artists to choose from.

I’ve also included a couple of super-skilled ink masters from nearby communities—because what’s a bit of a drive when you’re looking for the best-qualified artist for your chosen body art?

Diversified Ink Tattoo Studio

Founded in 2000, Diversified Ink employs seven tattoo artists and a body piercer, each licensed by the state of Maine and working in separate, private areas.

The artists at DI are serious about sterility and cleanliness; all needles and ink receptacles are one-use only, and all other equipment is autoclaved.

Each artist has a different specialty and hourly rate; check out their profiles online to help you determine which would be best suited for your chosen design.

Tattoos are by appointment only (although walk-ins are sometimes available; check the studio’s social media for updates); piercing walk-ins can usually be accommodated.

The artists at Kokopelli’s strive to create the body art of your dreams—not theirs. In other words, they want what you want. Sure, they’ll offer any creative input or advice as needed or asked for, but here, it’s all about you, not artistic ego or getting hung up on 100%-custom projects (although you’d do well to give them artistic license at Kokopelli’s—the talent is real).

Appointments are needed for tattoos, but feel free to walk in for piercings.

These artists are crazy-talented at pretty much any style of body art they do—and giving them free artistic rein is a choice you won’t regret (and one they’ll appreciate, as well). Oh, and if you happen to be wintering in Greenville, North Carolina, they have a studio there, too.
