Home of the historic Bath Ironworks and known as the “City of Ships,” Bath is a popular spot for travelers interested in architecture—particularly from the 19th century.
An official “Main Street USA” community, downtown Bath is also in the process of an ongoing revitalization, evident in the number of dining and lodging establishments popping up in the area in recent years.
The city is fast becoming a destination unto itself, which means increased tourist traffic.
And, as I always say, breakfast is the most important meal in MY day (and it’s all about me)—so to accommodate both visitors and travelers alike, Bath has plenty of breakfast establishments ready and waiting to fill that roaring, empty void in your belly first thing in the morning, whether for a day of hard work or hard play.
Map of Bath Breakfast Spots
This map shows you all the best breakfast spots in Bath, so you can explore them as the mood strikes you or plot out your next meal:
Mae’s Café & Bakery
Serving both breakfast and lunch from 8 p.m.-2 p.m. six days per week (closed Tuesdays), this casual, cheery bistro is very popular—and reservations are suggested.
Mae’s serves Wicked Joe’s coffee as well as many other hot and cold beverage options, and they’ve been making all of their fare from scratch since 2004.
The atmosphere is bright, friendly, and welcoming, and the expansive menu is next-level, with options like eight different creative Benedicts (like the Gavin, with house lamb sausage, spinach, and feta), eight omelets (such as Eden’s, with pastrami smoked salmon, tomato, spinach, and chevre), six sandwich-y choices (like Sarah’s Lucky Lindsay, with scrambled eggs, avocado, tomato, and cheddar on a multigrain croissant), and a whole host of lighter fare, house specials, griddle cakes, and smoothies.

Southgate Family Restaurant
Offering both table and bar seating, this cozy little nook of a restaurant is always busy—and once you eat there, you’ll understand why.
Service is fast and friendly, and the food is plentiful, delicious, and affordable.
I always know I’m in for a great breakfast experience when the menu encompasses both sides of the page—and this is one of those places.
Egg platters, omelets, sandwiches, burritos, pancakes/waffles, Benedicts, and lots of baked goods are on offer at Southgate—and all the hot coffee you can drink, of course.
And the masterminds at Southgate combine two of my favorite things in one magical breakfast experience: a Reuben Benedict, with 2 poached eggs, corned beef, sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese, and hollandaise.

Galley Restaurant
“Always fresh and prepared with passion,” the quality and quantity of the fare at the Galley Restaurant are evidence of those sentiments.
The menu has just enough of everything to please everyone in your party—even the picky peeps—and nobody will leave hungry, because portions are generous at the Galley.
Be sure to check the specials board before ordering…but I always know what I’m getting here: The Galley Special omelet (onions, green peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, ham, sausage, and bacon) with a single blueberry pancake on the side (because going out to breakfast ALWAYS means sweet AND savory, in my book).

Winnegance Restaurant & Bakery
Snug and quaint, Winnegance feels like your grandmother’s kitchen. The aromas of homemade baked goods fill the air, and the space is typically filled with the sounds of happy diners enjoying the delightful, fresh fare.
Breakfast sandwiches on homemade bread, pancakes, French toast, 3-egg omelets, scrambles, and burritos are just a few of the delectable offerings on Winnegance’s menu, and chances are you’re going to have a difficult time choosing just one item.
So, do as I do: Order two things, because sweet and savory. Try the Mini-Steak Omelet Breakfast Sandwich (2-egg omelet, shaved steak, peppers, onions, mushrooms, and cheese on toasted sourdough bread) with one of whichever fresh-baked-daily item catches your fancy from the bakery case.

Café Creme
Featuring a fabulous in-house bakery, Café Crème is the ideal spot for folks for a plate- rather than platter-style morning repast.
The menu offerings here are beverage-forward, with a plentiful list of artisan coffees, lattes, macchiatos, cappuccinos, espressos, and specialty blends to kick off your day with a supercharged bang.
For sustenance, choose Café Crème’s veritable feast of the culinary senses: An arsenal of baked-fresh-daily deliciousness like cinnamon rolls, scones, muffins, croissants, and assorted other pastries—along with rotating quiche and savory hand pie specials.
There is also a smoothie section, separated out into “For Health” and “For Fun” varieties, in case you prefer to drink your breakfast.
I suggest trying the refreshingly tropical Coconut Limeade (of the “Fun” variety) smoothie, especially if it’s hot outside.

Fiona’s Restaurant
A “family-based and friend-oriented business,” Fiona’s ticks all the boxes: cheerful, fast service and plentiful plates of delicious food—all at fair prices.
With plenty of seating in a spacious, bistro-style interior, this popular eatery has been in business since 2010 and the breakfast menu is the perfect balance of sweet and savory—not too much of any one category, but just enough to choose from.
And if you wake up with a truck driver’s appetite, try Jim’s Steak ‘n Egg Quesadilla: Two scrambled eggs, chopped steak, peppers, onions, and cheddar—all cooked into melty magic between two tortillas and served with salsa and sour cream.
Oh, and don’t forget to get a grilled blueberry muffin, too—you know why.

Sisters Gourmet Deli
The folks at Sisters pride themselves on using the freshest local ingredients possible in all of their homemade fare.
With an all-day menu of made-to-order sandwiches and wraps—as well as soups and salads—you choose to order your breakfast as a create-your-own sandwich or a salad.
And if you opt for the latter, you can get an extra egg for no eggstra charge (ha).
Select your meat and cheese, then choose 2 extras from things like banana peppers, sun-dried tomato, and hummus—and you’re off to the morning races.

Run with Soup
For a quick, grab-and-go morning treat and a hot cup of morning mojo, stop in to Run with Soup…especially if you prefer dessert-style sustenance for breakfast.
Think apple-cheesecake bars, mixed-berry-rhubarb custard bars, Greek yogurt lemon bread, and scones.
Located within sight of the massive, orange-and-white crane of the Bath Ironworks (although, pretty much everything within a two-mile radius is within sight of that familiar behemoth), Run with Soup is a warm, welcoming spot to enjoy a fast morning fill-up.
