Pamela’s World
While out-of-town travelers may only be aware of Bath and Brunswick as traffic bottleneck points along Route One on their way to Boothbay, Camden, or Bar Harbor, these two towns are well worth the effort to plan an extra overnight stop into your trek north.
Historic, quaint, and each featuring its own unique redeeming qualities, these communities—which are only 8 miles apart—have plenty of lodging and dining options to choose from…and if you’re looking to perhaps indulge in a bit of retail therapy, you’ll also find a variety of specialty stores and gift shops at your disposal.

Here is a handy map with all the gift shops listed in this article.
Pamela’s World
If you have anyone on your gift list that tends to like things of the shiny variety, put a twinkle in their eye with something sparkly from Pamela’s World.
All of the beautiful, handcrafted items here have been carefully curated for quality and affordability, and there is always more than enough to choose from.
Gorgeous, unique pieces to grace necks, ears, fingers, and wrists, crafted from precious metals, gemstones, sea glass, stones, pearls, and much more.

Hatch on Maine
Featuring mostly local, handcrafted items, the owners of Hatch on Maine (and its sister store, Hatch Home, at 66 Maine Street) are passionate about assembling the most interesting, unique collection of goods at these stores.
Between the two shops, you never know what you’ll find—vintage home goods, wall art, handmade linens and quilts, reimagined furniture, books, gardening products, antiques, and apparel, just to name a few.
If you enjoy browsing, start at Hatch and Hatch Home; you just might be able to check all the items off your gift list and call it a day.

Lisa Marie’s Made in Maine
I love to bring home gifts that were made in the areas I travel to; if you are the same, then head straight to Lisa Marie’s.
Whether you’re looking for something elegant, whimsical, rustic, or unique, you’ll find it here. Placemats or baskets made with recycled lobster trap rope? They’ve got ‘em. Decoupaged, gilded oyster shells as bedside jewelry holders? Yup. Flower petal jewelry, beach pebble artwork, or blown glass lobster buoys? Affirmative.
All that, and much, much more can be found at Lisa Marie’s.

The Original Maine Studio & Store
Many “folks from away” aren’t privy to the ongoing movement to bring back the original design (pine tree and Dirigo star, used from 1901-1909) for the Maine state flag.
And while the newer flag is still being used, the simpler version crops up more and more frequently—with proponents claiming it is a more accurate representation of the state.
If you or anyone on your gift list agree with that sentiment, then Original Maine’s products are for you.
Apparel, hats, mugs, stickers, patches, glassware, pillows, and more are on offer here—all bearing those vintage, distinctive symbols of the Pine Tree State.

Island Treasure Toys
If you’re on the hunt for a baby shower or child’s birthday gift, Island Treasure Toys will keep your quest short.
With three other locations in Maine, the fun folks at this lively, vibrant shop can help you track down the perfect age-appropriate gift—infant toys and teethers, beach and bath play, board books, train sets, crafting supplies, kits, Legos, puzzles…and that’s just the tip of the toybox.
They even offer free gift wrapping—and free shipping for orders over $99.

Nest
This is a great spot to assemble a delightful housewarming or shower gift; with shelves full of unique, handmade home goods, you’ll be hard-pressed not to walk out of Nest without buying yourself a basketful of stuff, too.
Wooden serving pieces, hand-painted ceramics and pottery, colorful linens, candles, greeting cards, and so much more—you’ll know as soon as you walk into Nest that there’s no way you’re leaving empty-handed.
Location: 100 Main St, Brunswick, ME 04011

The Mockingbird Bookshop
To me, nothing beats shopping in an independent book shop; the selection, prices, customer service, and overall experience are just head and shoulders above anything a big chain store (or website) can offer. The Mockingbird does all that and more; these folks love books, and if you’re at a loss as to what to buy someone, they can steer you in the right direction.
New titles, classics, and local authors, as well as literary-themed gifts, handmade products, stationery, and art supplies can be found at Mockingbird.

Cool as a Moose
The owners of these shops (also in Bar Harbor, Portland, and Brunswick) are from Maine, and they pride themselves on stocking the shelves with Maine-made, high-quality products.
Whether you’re looking for a store-branded item (all featuring Hermie the Moose), or something more Maine-centric, there are dozens of different products to choose from, including apparel, jewelry, totes, mugs, blankets, candles, and glassware.

Bath Sweet Shoppe
Have no idea what to get someone for a gift? You know what I always say: When in doubt, head to a chocolate shop—and thankfully, you have options when traveling through Bath and Brunswick.
The Bath Sweet Shoppe offers plenty of locally-made chocolates, truffles, caramels, and creams by the pound, making it easy to mix and match a one-of-a-kind assortment.
Or, head over to the nostalgic, retro penny candy section; you’ll feel like a kid again as you pick out your favorite treats. Think Smarties, SweetTarts, Necco Wafers, Laffy Taffy, and all manner of gummies and licorice.

Wilbur’s of Maine
Just over the border in Brunswick, you’ll find another delightful option for all things chocolate. Wilbur’s of Maine mostly hand-crafts all of their small-batch chocolates using as many local ingredients as possible—and you can taste the difference all that homemade goodness makes.
For a gift with some legit wow factor, check out Wilbur’s Chocuterie Box—a true work of gastronomic art.
There are several other chocolate and truffle assortments on offer, as well, if you’re not up for picking and choosing your own—and there are also beautiful, pre-assembled, themed gift baskets available.

Indrani’s
Located in the Tontine Mall, Indrani’s has been in business for over 31 years, offering a thoughtfully curated collection of breathtaking African art, drums, baskets, and jewelry.
You’ll also find essential oils, CBD products, blown glasswork, and women’s clothing in this vibrant shop.
