On the Main

While far more vibrant and livelier in the summertime, Ogunquit’s flash and sass shine through even the darkest days of winter.

And if you are lucky enough to return year after year to this welcoming, LGBTQIA-inclusive community, then you know already about the abundant amenities Ogunquit has to offer…particularly if you enjoy therapy of the retail variety.

Whether you’re on the hunt for a rainbow OGT sweatshirt, homemade fudge, handmade jewelry, local artwork, or any manner of seaside-motif gift, you’ll have no problem finding it in Ogunquit.

Celtic on Main

Celtic on Main offers shoppers “Maine’s finest selection of Celtic gifts and apparel” and is the perfect shop to track down a gift to honor someone’s Irish heritage.

Whether you’re looking for a traditional Claddagh ring, a Donegal wool sweater, a Guinness pint glass, or breathtaking, enlarged photos of some of the most iconic scenes in Ireland, you’ll find it here.

There are also plenty of Irish teas and treats on offer, with a constant, kicky soundtrack of Celtic tunes for your enjoyment while shopping.

Spoiled Rotten

If you’re on the prowl for items to fill up a themed gift basket for a hostess or housewarming gift, look no further than Spoiled Rotten…and be sure to allot a good chunk of time to do so, because there’s a lot (see what I did there?) to see here.

How about some witty cocktail napkins, travel wine mugs, a Puffin cooler, and a few gourmet snacks to fill up a basket? Just add a bottle of wine and you’re done.

You’ll also find jewelry, pet gifts, bath & body items, candles, kitchen goods, and so much more at Spoiled Rotten.

The Sassy Olive

I love this shop—and not just because I adore the name. Yes, it’s primarily an olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting room, which is reason enough to stop in for a gift for any chefs on your list (it’s amazing what Tuscan olive oil can do for a humble fried egg).

But The Sassy Olive also has a host of products other than their spectacular oils and vinegars, perfect for curating a collection of thoughtful gift items: Olive wood serving pieces, etched barware, candles, soaps, and lotions are also on offer here.

Revelations Gift Shop

Located in an old Methodist church (get it? Revelations?), this is one of those shops that has a little of everything—so be sure to check out every corner.

There are certainly plenty of Maine- and Ogunquit-related gift items, if that’s what floats your boat.

But you’ll also find myriad other fascinating items for the garden (sculptures, bird feeders, wind chimes), home (candles, lighting, artwork, décor, linens), and body (lotions, jewelry, apparel).

Perkins Cove Pottery Shop

Strictly a pottery shop at its outset in 1984 for Chris Davis’s acclaimed pieces, this store has expanded over the years to include the work of several other local artisans.

Breathtaking garden stakes, handmade apothecary items for body and home, tableware and serving pieces, jewelry, wall art, note cards, and more fill the shelves.

Whether you prefer sea glass, blown glass, olive wood, aluminum, copper, clay, stone, pewter, bronze, or iron—chances are you’ll find a bespoke work of art in your medium of choice at the Perkins Cove Pottery Shop.

Abacus

Abacus has several locations in Maine, and no matter which one I visit, I always find myself smiling within moments of walking through the door.

Part gallery, part gift shop, Abacus is full of whimsy and wonder, and everywhere you turn is yet another item to make you murmur, “Oh, wow.”

It’s the kind of place you need to experience in person—but just as a teaser, I’ll throw you a few bones regarding what to expect here: original artwork by Dana Heacock, handcrafted jewelry, sculptures, lighting, furniture, stationery, and wall hangings are just a taste of the delights you’ll find at Abacus.

Uniques & Antiques

If you’re someone that doesn’t have a game plan when shopping for gifts (“I’ll know it when I see it”), Uniques & Antiques just may be the place for you. Featuring a revolving display of heirloom jewelry, antiques, and seasonal collectibles, this wondrous little shop is full of surprises—you never know what you’ll find.

A Victrola for your audiophile husband, perhaps? A piece to add to your mother’s treasured carnival glass collection? Or maybe a Byers’ Choice Caroler as a hostess gift for your Aunt Martha’s Christmas open house?

Location: 61 Perkins Cove Rd, Ogunquit, ME 03907

Cricket’s Corner Beach & Toy

Since 1987, this sweet little toy store has slowly evolved from a camera shop with a few toys on sale in the corner (hence the store’s name) to an all-things-fun-and-games shop that sells a few camera-centric items.

Offering everything you could possibly need for fun on the beach (kites, boogie/skim boards, floats, chairs, towels, balls, games, sand toys), Cricket’s also has plenty of things for rainy-day fun, like puzzles, cards, and board games.

Location: 41 Shore Rd, Ogunquit, ME 03907

Harbor Candy Shop

For a truly decadent gift that is sure to bring a smile to any recipient’s face, head to the Harbor Candy Shop.

No penny candy store, this; these confections are worthy of a king. Just listen, and drool: Honey Nougat Beehives, Raspberry Crème Baskets, Mocha Cups, Orange Zest Crèmes, Tea-Infused Chocolates.

See what I mean? And the truffles here are simply divine—they even have vegan versions of most items they make. Oh, did I mention that all of the treats here are handmade?

H. & M. Crumpets’

While the name of this store sounds decidedly British, it is simply named for the owners’ three dogs—Homer, Max, & Crumpet—which is reason enough to visit.

But this charming boutique—located right next door to the Harbor Candy Shop—makes for such a wonderful gift shopping experience, I’d go even if it were named otherwise.

With a selective curation of bath and body items for everyone in the family, you can trust that all of the products here are free of harmful chemicals and have never been tested on animals.

Out of the Blue

For a huge selection of affordable, coastal-centric, sterling silver jewelry, Out of the Blue is top-notch.

This seasonal little “mom and pop shop” has a plethora of unique necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, watches, cufflinks, and pendants on display, most of which feature a seaside motif; think waves, compasses, whales, octopi, shells, sea glass, and starfish.
