Everywhere you turn in Biddeford, there’s a refreshing breath of youthful revitalization blowing new life into everything it touches.
With a median age of 35 (29 in the downtown district), this former textile mill city boasts the youngest average demographic composition in the state—and with all that vim and vigor comes entrepreneurial energy.
New shops, small businesses, bars, and restaurants have brought all manner of commerce and increased tourism to the proverbial table—including some newsworthy breakfast spots.
Map of Biddeford Breakfast Places
This map of Biddeford breakfast locations will help guide you through the rambling streets of Biddeford straight to your new favorite breakfast haunt:
Palace Diner
This award-winning darling of industry news has been raking in the accolades since the newest owners took over in 2014—and if you are lucky enough to get a seat at the 15-stool counter in this classic, 1927 Pollard dining car (one of only two left in the country), you’ll quickly understand why. Breakfast and lunch are served all day (8-2), and there is literally nothing on the menu I wouldn’t recommend.
But my hands-down favorite is the Deluxe Sandwich: Fried egg, bacon or sausage, cheddar, jalapeños, and mayo.
This particular slice of culinary heaven comes with Palace Potatoes—which are almost as magical as the sandwich and kind of like the potato version of a smash burger—and I always get a slice of the Brown Butter Banana Bread on the side.
Fair warning—there is almost always a line outside, even in sub-zero weather, and they do not take reservations.

Part & Parcel
Part & Parcel is the perfect morning stop for fresh baked goods and locally-roasted coffee from Elements and 44 North Coffee.
There is a fair amount of seating inside this bright, cheerful shop as well as tables outside on the private patio, perfect for catching up on either your email or the most recent local gossip with a friend.
Be sure to check the specials board for daily breakfast sandwich offerings, all on fresh focaccia bread.

Rover Bagel
Featuring a walk-up window only, Rover is sneakily tucked away in the back of Building 10 of the Pepperell Mill building…but the locals know just where to find them.
The handmade, woodfired bagels and house-made spreads are mouthwatering enough on their own to build a faithful following—but oh, the sandwiches these folks make!
My 100% go-to is Rover’s Classic Salmon bagel-wich: Smoked salmon, pickled red onion, cucumber, capers, fresh dill, and plain cream cheese on your choice of woodfired bagel.
There is also an extensive coffee and tea menu to round out your morning meal—but make sure you get there early because once the fresh-made daily bagels are gone, you’re out of luck.

Elements
Among the first of the commerce-kickstarters on Main Street in Biddeford, Elements is a quirky jack of all trades—the café’s full name is “Elements: Books, Coffee, and Beer”—and has amassed a faithful following.
Elements’ house-roasted coffee is available in pour-over style or quick-brew, and there are plenty of other hot and cold beverage options.
And to banish your morning munchies, there are house-made pastries and made-from-scratch bagels from Portland’s Rose Foods.

Pepperell Provisions
Featuring Portland’s Coffee by Design java (and house-made syrups to go with it), Pepperell Provisions offers dine-in, take-out, or delivery for their made-to-order sandwiches and fresh-made baked goods.
With several mouth-watering breakfast sandwiches (including a gluten-free option) and a rotating bevy of pastries, muffins, and croissants, it’s easy to start your day off on the right foot here—especially if you get the Veggie Egg Sandwich (roasted vegetable frittata, grilled tomato, and baby kale on an English muffin) with a Cinnamon Raisin Snail (buttered pastry, cinnamon & sugar, golden raisins).
Location: 2 main street, North Dam Mill (Building 18), suite 201, Biddeford, ME 04005

Valerie’s Scratch Kitchen
Brand-new this year—at least in this location—loyal customers will be happy to learn that Valerie’s is the former “All Day Breakfast,” recently transplanted from a strip mall up the road.
Featuring an enormous menu of every breakfast item imaginable—think huge egg combination platters, Benedicts, stuffed crepes, omelets, pancakes, and plenty of side orders—Valerie’s is a breakfast junkie’s (me) paradise.
To keep your belly full for the foreseeable future, try the Steak Bomb-Style Loaded Homefries: House-made homefries with shaved steak, peppers, mushrooms, onions, and cheese…with a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes on the side.
Location: 45 Boulder Way, Biddeford, ME 04005

Jackrabbit Café
This light and airy eatery has an urban feel to it—and yet it still retains its coziness.
Serving “Scandinavian-inspired” baked goods and “ground-to-order, slow-brewed” coffee, Jackrabbit is a delightful place to treat yourself to a sweet respite from a busy morning of errands or work.
At the time of this writing, the menu was limited to baked goods and beverages only; be sure to check in frequently for the return of Jackrabbit’s regular breakfast menu—because it is not to be missed.
Location: 14 Main St First Floor, Biddeford, ME 04005

Twin Cities Café
Every city has a place where long-time locals go for breakfast; Twin Cities is one of those places.
The décor is utilitarian and old-school, and the same can be said for the menu.
No frills, no fancy—just good, old-fashioned breakfast fare.
Choose from egg combination plates, omelets, pancakes, sandwiches, and a handful of sides—and plenty of coffee, of course.
I’d suggest the Kitchen Sink omelet (it’s exactly what you think it is) along with a slice of French toast on the side.
Location: 48 Alfred St #101, Biddeford, ME 04005

LaundrYup Café
It shocks me that it took so long for someone to come up with this genius idea: A laundromat that serves food and drinks.
The Italian-centric breakfast menu at LaundrYup is short but sweet (er…savory), and features four delightfully unique options.
For a creative confluence of dinner-meets-breakfast, give the LaundrYup Breakfast Sandwich a try: Fried egg, sliced meatballs, mozzarella, and spicy marinara sauce on a bagel.
Location: 77 Hill St, Biddeford, ME 04005

Time & Tide Coffee
Sourcing responsibly-grown coffee beans and expertly roasting them in-house, Time & Tide takes coffee seriously.
And if you don’t do coffee, they have lots of lattes and teas to choose from, as well, to go along with their morning fare—all of which is purchased from local providers.
I’m a big fan of the Avocado Toast (on Bread & Friends toast) alongside whichever pastry or treat looks the most tempting from the bakery case.
