The Boothbay Harbor area is a hotspot for boaters and road-trippers alike, especially during the summer…although the Gardens Aglow holiday lights display at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens has grown to be quite the wintertime tourist draw during the attraction’s short tenure.
But despite the seasonal nature of this coastal resort area and no matter what time of year it is, folks gotta eat—and we all know what the most important meal of the day is, right?
Map of Boothbay Harbor Breakfast Spots
This map shows off all of the breakfast locations mentioned in this article, to help you find your next meal in a snap:
Mama D’s Café
Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, delicious coffee, and fresh fare offerings that change depending on local ingredient availability—that’s what Mama D’s is all about.
Serving organic fair-trade Wicked Joe’s coffee alongside a tidy menu of dine-in or take-out breakfast fare, Mama D’s is open year-round and very popular with residents and visitors alike.
I recommend a veggie omelet with cheddar and a big piece of Mama D’s homemade blueberry cake (because sweet and savory at breakfast time is life).

East Boothbay General Store
Although there are a few outdoor tables and benches at this year-round spot, most folks get their fresh, made-to-order breakfast to go here at EBGS.
The breakfast menu is compact and to-the-point, with just enough variety to please most palates.
I always have a hard time deciding what to order here, but if I were to recommend just one thing, it’d have to be the Apple Brie Bacon Wrap: Scrambled egg, soft brie, apple slices, and bacon, finished in the pizza oven to melt all the deliciousness together.
Location: 255 Ocean Point Rd, East Boothbay, ME 04544

Harbor Nutrition
If you prefer to enjoy a lighter, healthier breakfast, head to Harbor Nutrition—because these folks really know their way around “healthy and energizing teas, shakes, and snacks.”
The menu offers some incredibly creative build-your-own tea options, and the heartier shake choices are a meal in themselves; you can also opt to add in things like extra protein, fiber, fat-burning supplements, or a collagen-boosting shot. Be sure to check for breakfast bowl specials, too.

Farm 23
This family-owned and -run café and farm store is one of those places where there is no way you’re walking out without a smile on your face and something delicious in your hand.
All of the mouth-watering baked goods are made in-house with lots of love and care, and every grab-and-go sandwich, burrito, slice of quiche, and stuffed croissant is made fresh every morning.
Location: 102 Ocean Point Rd, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538

Marcel’s Submarine Shop
Marcel’s has combined two wildly successful ventures into one: Sandwich shop…and whiskey bar.
Yup, you read that right. And now they have breakfast, too! The café portion of the establishment is currently open Wednesday through Sunday from 8-4 (the whiskey bar hours are later), and 8 delicious breakfast sandwiches are on offer all day.
Try the Lost Slipper: An over-hard egg, roast beef, gruyere, horseradish sauce, and a hash brown patty on an English muffin.

Red Cup Coffee House
Now we’ll move on to cover the many seasonal establishments in Boothbay…and this particular bustling little café is sorely missed in the winter, being just as much a social gathering spot as it is a breakfast fixture.
Serving Portland’s award-winning Coffee by Design along with breakfast panini, burritos, house-made baked goods, and even a breakfast pizza, Red Cup has just the right balance of sweet and savory options on the menu.
Location: 29 Commercial St, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538

Coastal Prime
Located at the upscale Boothbay Harbor Oceanside Golf Resort, the seasonal Coastal Prime restaurant features a great little menu of breakfast classics.
Every seat has a gorgeous water view here, so be sure to linger over your morning meal as long as possible.
As for what to order, I’m a fan of both sweet and savory when dining out for breakfast—so I typically wrangle my husband into doing a splitsy: Lobster Benedict and Blueberry Pancakes. Oh, and a Bloody Mary, of course—because vacation.
Location: 35 Atlantic Ave, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538

Topside Inn
Another seasonal hotel dining spot, the Topside Inn’s breakfast is open to the public, and as they like to say: “It’s more than a meal—it’s an event.” They’re not kidding.
Fresh. Locally sourced. Abundant. Creative. These are just a few of the descriptors I’d use for the amazing morning repast here.
For example, expect next-level dishes like organic grits with lobster, Creole sauce, chive oil, and a sunny-side-up egg, or lemon-ricotta pancakes with blueberry compote.

The Salty Stag
“The welcoming hearth and heart” of the Spruce Point Inn, this seasonal restaurant is bright, spacious, and offers expansive harbor views.
The morning menu features a section of Light Fare, along with Eggs & Hash, Fancy Toast, and Waffles & Cakes.
That last category includes the Campfire Toast, which is kind of a breakfasty take on S’mores: French toast, graham cracker crumbles, chocolate, and marshmallow sauce.
Location: Spruce point inn, 88 Grandview Ave, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538

Brisetto’s Second Cup
Brisetto’s is the perfect spot—albeit seasonal—to grab a hot (or cold) cup of wakey-uppy and a fresh-baked treat before settling into one of the comfy couches or chairs to read or catch up on some work.
Espressos, lattes, mochaccinos, tea, European milkshakes, fruit smoothies…and that’s only a portion of the beverage offerings to choose from at Brisetto’s to go with your scone, croissant, bar, or turnover.
Location: 41 Commercial St, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538

Bridge Street Café
Just a stone’s throw from Boothbay Harbor’s iconic footbridge, this little seasonal bistro offers nothing less than good old-fashioned, homemade goodness.
Available all day, the breakfast menu is impressive, featuring home-cooked favorites like pancakes, French toast, eggs, oatmeal, and omelets, as well as a mouth-watering array of house-made baked goods.
For a real treat, try the Bridge Street Italian Panettone French Toast.

Waves Restaurant
The breakfast menu at this seasonal restaurant takes up both sides of a full page—and in my book, that’s when you know they consider the morning meal with the respect it deserves, not as an afterthought.
With so many options available, you may have to ask your server to come back at least once before you can decide; maybe take a peek online before you go to save time.
Waves even offers a Breakfast Banana Split—made with yogurt instead of ice cream.
Location: 43 Commercial St, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538

Blue Moon Café
The seasonal Blue Moon provides fabulous brews (of the caffeine variety) with fabulous views.
In a perfect world, the weather will be warm and sunny on the day you choose to visit Boothbay—because I guarantee the amazing breakfast here will taste all the better with an ocean breeze blowing and the sound of waves rolling in.
The menu options cover all the bases—and if I were to suggest one, it’d be the Smoked Salmon Omelet, complete with cream cheese, capers, and red onion.
Location: 54 Commercial St, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538
