A delicious steak pizza from Camden, Maine
I’m not sure about you, but one of the criteria for me while on vacation is that there is minimal cooking involved—which naturally leads to eating out or ordering in.

And since Camden (a seasonal resort town that becomes awash with vacationing visitors every summer) offers so many fantastic dining options, it’s easy to get overwhelmed.

And who wants that? So, to make things easier on your vacation-addled brain, might I suggest pizza for dinner? Every night.

And why not? There are enough pizza establishments in and around Camden to do so without visiting the same spot twice for your meal.

Map of Camen Area Pizza Places

This map is perfect for when you’re craving a slice but aren’t sure where you should order pizza from near Camden, Maine.

Camden House of Pizza

This family-owned, classic pizza shop has been dishing up pies since 1998, always using fresh toppings and house-made dough.

Pizzas come in 10” and 16”, as well as a 10” gluten-free crust option…and if you’re feeling creative, you can create your own pie from the 20 traditional toppings on offer.

Or, to take the brainwork out of the equation, order one of CHOP’s seven specialty pizzas.

I highly recommend the Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza (sliced chicken with bacon crumbles, fresh tomato, and ranch dressing). Dine-in, take-out, and delivery is available, as well as a limited beer and wine menu.

Location: 12 Mechanic St, Camden, ME 04843

Blaze

This waterfront local favorite features both indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy your wood-fired flatbread pizza. And as I always claim—eat outside, if you can, because everything tastes better when you’re looking at the ocean.

With six locations in Maine, Blaze has perfected the art of all things pizza—and I just dare you to take a peek at the menu and not start helplessly salivating.

The house-made dough is made using Blaze Brewing’s own Barley Boy Brown Ale, and you can either build your own pizza or choose from six signature pies.

And while all of Blaze’s pizzas are delicious, give the Chorizo Manzana a shot, for a real flavor explosion: white ricotta base, Blaze Meat Company chorizo and smoked bacon, roasted apples, smoked cheddar, green onions, and spicy aioli.

Megunticook Market

This fabulous little shop is chock-full of gourmet foods, high-quality fresh meats, produce, and ready-to-eat or made-to-order fare—including delicious pizza.

There is no indoor seating, so this is a good option for a take-out night—especially since you can get all the accoutrements you need here as well (salads, beer, dessert).

Pies come in 10” or 16”, and you can choose from either 10 specialty pizzas, or select from 22 toppings to create your own.

I’m a big fan of the Artichoke & Chicken pizza: Artichoke hearts, chicken, feta, spinach, and mozzarella on a garlic crust.

Location: 2 Gould St, Camden, ME 04843

Cuzzy’s Restaurant

Cuzzy’s is popular with locals and tourists alike, boasting an amazing happy hour with just-as-amazing brick oven pizzas and pub fare.

Enjoy the ping pong or pool table, ring toss, and dart board while you wait for your pizza—which comes in 10 specialty options and uses Cuzzy’s fresh, homemade dough.

You can add any of the 24 available toppings as well to kick the flavor factor up a notch on your pie.

The Apostrophe pizza is especially tasty: an alfredo base topped with chicken, mozzarella, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese.

Location: 21 Bay View St, Camden, ME 04843

40 Paper

Featuring both indoor and outdoor seating, 40 Paper is an upscale dining option with several simple, mouthwatering flatbreads—all of which can be made vegetarian—on their locally-sourced menu.

The pizzas come in two sizes, and the large could easily feed two along with a shared salad.

If you are not vegetarian-inclined, I recommend the Salami Flatbread (the meat can be left off—but what’s the fun in that?): Artisan salami, marinara, mozzarella, fontina, and oregano.

Location: 40 Washington St, Camden, ME 04843

The Jack

The Jack offers fantastic pizza, a full bar, and…bocce? Yup, you read that right.

Indoor bocce courts and pizza—it just doesn’t get any better than this, folks.

The Jack may not have many pizza options on the menu, but trust me when I say there’s no need—because they’re all delicious.

The folks at The Jack pride themselves in making all of their fare from scratch, which includes house-made dough and sauces for their pies.

If you like a little zing, try the Chorizo Pizza: Chorizo, baby portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, red sauce, and mozzarella.

American Flatbread

Just south of Camden, Rockport is another coastal resort town that offers plenty of fabulous pizza options—like American Flatbread.

This is the popular franchise’s only Maine location, so folks in the Camden area count themselves lucky to be within driving distance. The made-fresh-daily dough is made from organic wheat—and a gluten-free crust is also available.

Pies come in 12” or 16”, with nine house specialty pizzas as well as a “Free Form Flatbread” section, where you can craft your own signature pie.

The Punctuated Equilibrium pizza has always been my favorite: Kalamata olives, local goat cheese, red onion, rosemary, roasted red peppers, mozzarella, parmesan, garlic oil, and herb blend.

Location: 399 Commercial St, Rockport, ME 04856

Ports Pizzeria

Also located in nearby Rockport and brainchild of the Ports of Italy restaurant geniuses, Ports Pizzeria crafts Italian brick oven pizza like nobody’s business.

Opting for the “you get what you get, and don’t get upset” approach to their pizza menu, Ports doesn’t offer a build-your-own section; it’s all about the signature pies.

And once you’ve laid eyes on the eight options, you’ll see why there really is no need for anything else.

For a decadent delight, try the Barese pizza: San Marzano tomatoes, mushrooms, sausage, and mozzarella.

Rustica Cucina Italiana

Located just 15 minutes south of Camden, Rockland is another great town to head to for pizza.

Rustica’s traditional, old-world décor and classic-meets-modern Italian menu make for a delightful dine-in experience—although you can also get your pizza for take-out.

There are four different 12” pizzas on the dinner menu; no top-your-own option is available.

But no worries, because you can’t go wrong with any of Rustica’s specialty pies—especially the Goat Cheese Pizza: Artichoke and roasted red pepper pesto, fresh spinach, balsamic onion jam, goat cheese, and roasted garlic.

Location: 315 S Main St, Rockland, ME 04841

Ada’s Kitchen

Just a few blocks south of Rustica Cucina is Ada’s Kitchen, one of my favorite spots for pizza in the area.

Belly up to the bar in this rustic-chic bistro to order one of Ada’s five signature pies (in 10” or 16”; a 10” gluten-free crust is also available), or build your own—either way, you’re in for a singular treat.

And there’s no better way to get the full pizza experience than to order the Ada’s Pizza: Mozzarella, fresh greens, house-made sausage, chili, and vincotto wine reduction.
