everything pizza from Kennebunkport, Maine
Often confused with each other, these two coastal towns each possess their own unique and appealing aspects.

Kennebunkport is a draw for the well-heeled and world-traveled with high-end dining, lodging, and galleries in and around its hub of tourism, Dock Square.

And while Kennebunk has its own nearby stake in that arena—Lower Village—it also has in spades what Kennebunkport lacks: All of the amenities and necessities of day-to-day living, like grocery stores, banks, healthcare, gas stations, schools…and pizza.

Sure, Kennebunkport has a few pizza options—which I’ll cover here—but to give you the big pizza picture, I’ve included both towns’ offerings below. You’re welcome.

Map of Kennebunk and Kennebunkport Pizza Places

This map has all of the pizza places mentioned in this article, making it easier than ever to grab a slice while in the Kennebunk and Kennebunkport area.

Kennebunk House of Pizza

Kennebunk House of Pizza—or KHP, to locals—is a quintessential pizza joint…and if you live in Kennebunk, chances are this is where you get your pies.

I’m not sure about you, but this is the type of pizza I grew up with: Homemade dough baked into a thick, crispy crust, topped with savory sauce and a hearty, gooey layer of toppings and cheese.

For over 30 years, this little counter-service establishment has been serving up its main specialty—pizza—as well as a menu full of other classic house-of-pizza-centric delights, like calzones, pasta, subs, and fried dinners.

And if you can’t make up your mind, there are even pizzas that combine items on their menu, like the Fried Chicken, Chicken Parmesan, or Steak Bomb pies.

Roma Pizza

The only real pizza deal in Kennebunkport, Roma Pizza is tucked up on a hill just outside the buzz of Dock Square.

This family-owned, thin-crust-style pizzeria serves up 8 signature pies—including a 16” Cheesy Bread Pie—as well as the option to build your own pizza, with 18 toppings to choose from.

And, because I have fond memories of getting delicious Italian sausage subs at the El Tiante (along with Luis Tiante’s autograph) food stand outside Fenway, I’d have to recommend The Fenway pie: Sauce, mozzarella, sausage, peppers, and onions.

Sebago Brewing Company Brewpub

If you’re more of a wood-fired flatbread pizza fan, Sebago is the place to go.

Belly up to the bar (or, if you prefer table service, you can be seated in the dining room, or at a high-top in the bar area), order one of Sebago’s own amazing brews, and then choose from either one of 9 house specialty pies, or design your own signature creation; choose from 6 sauces, 5 kinds of cheese, and 16 meat/veggie topping options.

My hands-down favorite is The Reuben: Thousand Island dressing, red ale-braised corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and cheddar-mozzarella, all piled on a wood-fired flatbread crust.

Duffy’s Tavern & Grill

This casual, come-as-you-are local favorite is situated in a renovated mill building overlooking the Mousam River locks; you can either choose to sit at the large, U-shaped bar, or be seated in the dining room.

Featuring a well-rounded offering of pub-style fare, the pizzas here are technically made for one, but you can make a meal for two out of them if you both order a salad.

Opt to make your own pizza, or choose from 9 signature pies; my favorite Duffy’s creation is the Short Rib Pizza: Braised Short Rib, roasted corn, and gruyere cheese.

The Tavern at Kennebunk Inn

Recently having undergone a rebranding, The Tavern’s new menus have found the sweet spot between pub fare and craft cuisine.

Served in their newly-refreshed historic dining room overlooking Kennebunk’s Main Street, The Tavern offers both a Margherita Pizza as well as a rotating pizza-of-the-week special, the latter based on which local ingredients are in season. In addition to an impressive wine, craft beer, and signature cocktail list, the Tavern also offers a dessert menu…so perhaps forgo that third (or fourth) slice of pizza to leave room for the best part of any meal.

The Pilot House

Known around these parts as “Where the Locals Go,” The Pilot House is a no-frills, comfortable eatery with a menu of delicious fare to match.

In addition to a wide variety of seafood dishes and casual pub food, The Pilot House also offers build-your-own 12” pizzas with 8 different toppings to choose from.

Located right on the Kennebunk River in Lower Village, you can opt to sit outside in the warmer months, order a mushroom, tomato, basil, and sausage pizza with an ice-cold beer, and watch the boats go by.

Garden Street Bowl

One of my favorite local spots, GSB is a bowling alley, bar, and restaurant all in one.

Don’t come here for an intimate, quiet dining experience, though—the aforementioned bowling aspect doesn’t quite lend itself to that sort of thing.

But it IS perfect for a night out with friends, or a casual dinner at the bar—especially if you’re looking for amazing flatbreads with a spectacular craft cocktail.

And while you can create your own pizza, my husband and I always do splitsies with the Carnivore (red sauce, pork belly, bacon, sausage, pickled peppers) and the Forest (roasted mushrooms, caramelized onions, arugula, and truffle oil) pies.

Alisson’s Restaurant

Front and center in the midst of Kennebunkport’s Dock Square, Alisson’s offers an expansive, casual menu of seafood, burgers, sandwiches, salads…and 10” pizzas.

And while there is no list of specialty pies here—mostly create-your-own, with 18 toppings to choose from—Alisson’s does have one signature pizza…and it’s one of the most popular items on the menu, especially during tourist season: The Maine Lobster Pizza.

This coastal culinary marvel is topped with hand-picked chunks of fresh lobster meat, crisp pancetta, and a generous drizzle of fontina gruyere cheese sauce.

Goose Rocks Beach General Store

Looking for pizza to go? How about a breakfast pizza?

Whether or not you’re looking for the morning variation, Goose Rocks Beach General Store offers build-your-own 16” pies all day…and honestly, the GRB Classic Breakfast Pizza would appeal to me at any time: Egg, mozzarella, sausage, and bacon (you can also add any other pizza toppings for $1.50 each, depending on your level of hunger and adventurousness).

Location: 3 Dyke Rd, Kennebunkport, ME 04046

As mentioned earlier, Kennebunk has far more consumer need-fulfillment options—and that includes chain restaurants.

If you prefer the tried-and-true to the unknown when it comes to your pizza experience, you can always give either Domino’s or Amato’s a call.
