A delicious pizza and salad at a Moosehead Lake restaurant

At 117 square miles and second only to Lake Champlain in New England for size, Moosehead Lake provides year-round, lake-centric activities for the whole family.

Boating, fishing, skating, jet skiing, swimming—all manners of fun for all.

There are also plenty of eating establishments on offer in the Moosehead Lake region—although they are pretty much centered around two areas: Greenville, at the southern tip of the lake, and Rockwood, at the western side.

The north and west sides of the lake are largely wilderness—which means you’ll have to catch and cook your own food if you opt to stay in that region.

Map of Moosehead Lake Restaurants

This map of our 12 top picks for Moosehead Lake restaurants makes finding your new favorite eaterie a breeze.

Blair Hill Inn & Restaurant

This “restaurant on a hill with expansive lake views” is one of the few high-end establishments on this list.

The Blair Hill Inn & Restaurant is open to the public and requires reservations for the prix fixe dinner menu, which changes weekly depending on what’s in season locally.

The chefs use ingredients from the Inn’s greenhouse and gardens, as well as from local farms, fishermen, and purveyors to create culinary masterpieces like the Wood-Grilled Swordfish with Sauce Romesco, Almonds, and Summer Squash.

The meal includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert—and you also have the option to have the in-house sommelier select the perfect wine pairing for your dinner.

The Lodge at Moosehead Lake

This year-round spot also opens its doors to the public for dinner only, Thursday through Sunday from 5-8, and is another fine dining restaurant in Greenville.

Enjoy the beautiful lake and mountain views from either the elegant dining room or the outdoor deck—either way, you’ll enjoy a four-course, prix fixe menu that changes with the seasons, using as many locally-sourced ingredients as possible.

The mixologists are just as talented as the chefs here at the Lodge—so be sure to try one of their signature Mooseopolitans while watching the stars come out over the lake.

Dockside Inn & Tavern

Located directly on Moosehead Lake, the casual Dockside Inn & Tavern has both indoor and outdoor deck seating, as well as an adorable little food shack, Row Boat Joe’s—with its own menu—out on the dock.

With plenty of appetizers, soups, salads, melts, “hanwiches,” pizza, and desserts to choose from, chances are everyone in your group will find something to love here.

Be sure to check the daily specials menu, as well—you’ll find things like Lobster Alfredo and Baked Stuffed Sole on offer.

Jamo’s Pizza

This family-run local fixture has been in business for over seven decades—and after you try anything on their menu, you’ll see why.

Whether you’re hankering for one of Jamo’s signature Dagwood subs (choice of meat with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, bacon, and mayo on house-made pita), a classic 10” or 16” pizza (build your own or choose from 6 signature pies), or a Chicken Quesadilla Salad, the talented folks at Jamo’s will take good care of you and your appetite.

Open seven days a week, Jamo’s also serves beer and has a small breakfast menu.

Stress Free Moose Pub and Café

Featuring plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating along with weekly live entertainment, the Stress Free Moose Pub and Café is a lively spot to enjoy a cold beer along with some pub-style comfort food with friends.

Make a meal out of several items off the extensive list of appetizers (I highly recommend the Spicy Pickle Fries and the Boom Boom Shrimp), or order a sandwich or entrée, if your appetite is a bit heartier (the Serrano Chili Baked Salmon is a taste sensation).

Be sure to ask about the cocktail specials of the day—you’re in luck if they’re mixing up their spicy margaritas!

The Farm at Moosehead

Featuring a take-out-only menu of wood-fired deliciousness, The Farm at Moosehead is all about fresh, local, and organic.

Using a wood-fired brick oven they built themselves, the owners make almost everything from scratch at The Farm: Brick Oven Pizza, five different flavors of Wood-Fired Wings, bread, and slow-smoked baby back ribs.

There are plenty of freshly-made sides and salads on offer as well, like baked beans, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, side salads, and cornbread.

DKB Catering

While DKB mostly features take-out, family-style fare only, the owner does serve dinner every Thursday from 5:30-7, with mostly outdoor seating.

If you’re expecting a large group or have rented a vacation property with other families, DKB is the way to go.

Choose from boxed lunches, appetizer trays, salads, dinner entrees, side dishes, and even desserts—cakes and pies worthy of a king.

Woody’s Bar

This sports bar masquerades as a garage from the outside…but inside is where the truth comes out.

Live entertainment, yard games, air hockey, and more await the fun-loving kid in all of us—and there’s just enough pub food on offer to fill that void in your belly after a long day of fishing, boating, or just vacationing.

Affordable and hearty, the fare here is the perfect foil for a few ice-cold beers; think Chili Taco Salad, BBQ pork sliders, potato skins, nachos, or pizza.

Boja’s Bungalow

This café and juicery has all kinds of tricks up its sleeve—not only do they craft fantastic cold-pressed juices and power-packed smoothies, but you can also enjoy unique house cocktails and mocktails.

With grab-and-go options as well as made-to-order soups, salads, and sandwiches on offer, choose from delightful fare like the Loaded Grilled Cheese (cheddar or American, green pepper, onion, roasted red pepper, and broccoli) or the giant Anytime Burrito.

Breakfast is also available; I recommend the Spinach & Feta Quiche, which comes with Pickled Cucumber Salad.

Kelly’s Landing

Open year-round, Kelly’s Landing has outdoor deck dining directly on the lake with breathtaking views—or enjoy a cozy booth in the dining room in the winter alongside the hearth of the fireplace.

Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the menu at Kelly’s is laden with delicious comfort food—including classics like chicken parmesan, shepherd’s pie, baked stuffed haddock, and much more.

There is also a full bar, as well as cocktail and dessert specials.

Rockwood Bar & Grill

Situated on the west side of Moosehead Lake, the laid-back Rockwood Bar & Grill specializes in wings, steak bombs, and pizza—but there is plenty more to enjoy on the dinner menu.

Open seven days a week all year long, this casual, affordable restaurant is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.

The Loaded Nachos are a meal in themselves, but the Classic Reuben Sandwich is my weakness, for sure.

The Birches

Rustic and yet still elegant, the restaurant at The Birches Resort is open to the public, and reservations are strongly recommended.

The dining room is in the lodge and features an enormous fireplace, rough-sawn planks on the walls, and a timbered, lofted ceiling.

Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the menus at The Birches are simple yet elevated—and there is also a pub menu available in the lounge.
