mint julep at an Ogunquit bar

Colorful, lively, beautiful, and inclusive: That’s Ogunquit in a nutshell. No matter what kind of atmosphere you’re looking for in your long weekend or extended getaway, you’re sure to find it here—because this bustling seaside town checks all the boxes.

An extensive dining scene, live entertainment, beaches, shopping, galleries—and bars.

So, make sure to plan an evening out sans kiddos—and make your way on foot to one (or several) of these convivial establishments for a pint, snifter, or your barware of choice full of whatever libations catch your fancy.

Map of Bars in Ogunquit

Here is a handy map of all the Ogunquit bars referenced in this post:

The Front Porch

The Front Porch’s piano bar upstairs is the perfect spot to gather with friends for a bite, a few tipples, and a song—because sing, you will.

Their extensive beer, wine, and cocktail menu—as well as their food—are reasons enough to come here, but the atmosphere seals the deal.

As for which of their signature craft cocktails to choose? How about a tip of the glass to these crazy days we’re living in? I present The Vaccine: The Busker Irish Whiskey, amaro, a splash of soda water, and a slice of orange.

Maine Street

Located in the heart of Ogunquit center and touted as Northern New England’s largest gay nightclub, Maine Street features two dance floors, two outdoor decks, and three bars.

Offering drag and comedy shows, karaoke, pool tournaments, and tea dances, all are welcome at this high-energy venue—just be sure to bring your dancing shoes.

Location: 195 Main St, Ogunquit, ME 03907

BeachFire

Open year-round, this casual eatery boasts a large fire pit and patio out front, perfect for cozying up with a Hot Toddy.

Whether you choose to sip your cocktail fireside or at the full-service bar inside, you’ll have plenty of libations to choose from to accompany your meal (they specialize in smoked meats and BBQ).

Old Village Inn

Step in out of the hubbub of Ogunquit’s Main Street to OVI’s old-world atmosphere. This local favorite provides all the tavern-style feels you could ever want—dim lighting, dark paneling, quaint décor—and of course, a busy, full-service bar.

With an impressively huge wine list as well as beer and specialty cocktails, OVI is a great spot to withdraw from the noise, pull up a barstool, and sip to your heart’s content.

CREW Ogunquit

Having opened in 2021, this fun-loving establishment sits smack in the middle of Ogunquit’s busy central intersection.

Self-dubbed as a “sing-along, dance-along restaurant/bar,” CREW’s upscale, seaside vibe, creative cocktail menu, and comfortable bar seating make it a prime candidate as a new favorite for locals and tourists alike.

I’m dying to go and try their “Choose Your Own Adventure” cocktail—a novel idea in which you choose your booze, one of CREW’s house-made syrups, and a squeeze of citrus.

Cornerstone Artisanal Pizza and Craft Beer

This industrial-rustic bar-bistro is a dream come true; amazing craft pizza AND a full bar, all in a warm, comfortable, trendy atmosphere.

And whether you’re looking for a local beer, wine by the glass or bottle, or a signature craft cocktail, you won’t be disappointed with Cornerstone’s drinks menu.

My suggestion would be to order the Berrypeño Margarita: El Toro Tequila, jalapeño simple syrup, sour mix, and cranberry juice on the rocks.

That Place in Ogunquit

If you’ve read any of my other Ogunquit reviews, you’ve probably gathered by now that I love this place—for its name, atmosphere, food…and bar.

Offering a separate bar menu and an impressive cocktail, beer, and wine list, this is a great spot no matter who you’re with or what time of year it is…although, fair warning: It’s super popular, especially in-season.

Oh, and give their Rum Punch a try—you’ll be a firm believer after just one sip.

Angelina’s

Voted “Best Wine Bar” by Portsmouth Magazine, Angelina’s is a seasonal, cozy, Italian eatery that also does a darn good job as a lounge/bar.

With 27 wines available by the glass and 90 by the bottle, this casual, comfortable wine bar is a great spot to enjoy a few glasses of spectacular wine over an equally spectacular meal.

The Front Yard

The big draw for this seasonal, Mediterranean restaurant is the outdoor bar pagoda, seating area, fire pit, and patio in the (ahem) front yard…although The Front Yard features an indoor sports bar-style lounge, as well.

Close enough to the town center to walk—less than a half-mile—The Front Yard is a great meeting spot for new vacation acquaintances or long-time friends.

Jonathan’s Ogunquit

Another local, year-round hotspot, Jonathan’s has been around since 1976. The bar is cozy and comfortable, and just upstairs is a large venue that hosts dozens of comedians and musicians throughout the year—be sure to check the schedule before you plan your visit.

A drink or two with a delicious meal at the bar, and then off you go for an evening of entertainment.

Five-O Shore Road

Overlooking Shore Road, Five-O is a seasonal, upscale restaurant and bar.

With a carefully curated wine and beer list, an ever-changing menu of craft cocktails, indoor and outdoor seating, and a well-stocked, stylish bar, you may find yourself pining for Five-O’s doors to open come late winter…especially if you’ve given their Coconut Ginger Martini a try (house-made ginger puree, coconut rum, pineapple juice, and toasted coconut)…because it’s nearly impossible to recreate at home (believe me—I’ve tried).

M.C. Perkins Cove

Named one of USA Today’s “Top Ten Places in the World with a View,” I’d recommend M.C.’s even if they didn’t have a bar. Thankfully, they do—two of them, in fact—and no matter which you choose, the experience is second to none.

I could say the same for their M.C. Cocktail Menu, as well—and if I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be the Pineapple Mezcal: Pineapple-infused Mezcal, pineapple juice, orange soda water, and ginger beer.

Treehouse Taqueria

A fun, festive atmosphere; fresh, authentic Mexican food; creative margaritas, tequila flights, and cocktails. Ay caramba—what more could you want (other than to be open year-round—which, alas, they are not)?

How about three different 32-ounce cocktail buckets? Done. Just make sure you order a boatload of mouthwatering food from the menu to temper all that buzzy booze.

Northern Union

An upscale bistro with a casual feel, this seasonal restaurant and bar features locally-sourced ingredients, a substantial menu of beer, cider, wine, and cocktails, and an intimate setting…the latter meaning it’s tough to get a seat at the bar in the thick of summer.

But if you can, it’s worth it—because their cocktails are just as fun to watch being made as they are to drink. I have three favorites, but if pressed to pick one, it’d be The Back Alley: Rye, toasted coconut, chile de àrbol vermouth, Campari, and Aperol.

Location: 261 Shore Rd, Ogunquit, ME 03907
Website: Northern Union

And now is the part where I run out of room and scramble to include other places that didn’t fit. Brix & Brine is a really cool spot—seasonal and outdoors only—that technically isn’t a bar, but you can get your raw bar fix along with a fantastic craft cocktail and watch the sea of humanity go by.

Another great option is 360, located at The Anchorage by the Sea; the views alone are worth a visit…but why not have a glass of wine or cocktail while you’re there?
