A good portion of the dining and lodging establishments in this lovely seaside community (Ogunquit is Abenaki for “beautiful place by the sea”) are seasonal, yes…but it’s not like the entire town shuts down as soon as the first flakes fly.
And when those long, dark days of Maine winter settle in, folks need to venture forth for some comfort food, camaraderie…and coffee.
No matter what month is featured on the calendar, Ogunquit always has options for those hardy residents hungry enough to don their Bean boots and jackets, brave the elements (or the tourists), and go out to breakfast.
Breakfast Spots in Ogunquit
Here are the best breakfast spots in Ogunquit, as listed in this post:
The Blue Bistro
Tucked into the oceanfront Beachmere Inn, the Blue Bistro serves an elevated, full breakfast menu to both guests and the public—and reservations are suggested.
With a hearty selection of specialties, Belgian waffles, French toast, or a Build-Your-Own-Breakfast section, you’ll have everything you need to start your morning off right—including several morning cocktails to choose from (Eggs Benedict with a Bloody Mary? Now THAT’S a breakfast of champions I could get on board with).
Location: 62 Beachmere Pl, Ogunquit, ME 03907

The Greenery Café
This sweet little bistro offers indoor and outdoor table service year-round, in addition to a fair few counter seats. Homemade, fresh fare served with a smile—that’s what you get at the Greenery Café.
And while they do have a lunch menu as well, breakfast is also served all day, and includes signature egg sandwiches, specialties, omelets, scrambles, pancakes, and French toast.
Too much deliciousness to choose from? Order the Crab Saratoga (eggs scrambled with cream cheese, scallions, and crabmeat, all topped with an over-easy egg and hollandaise sauce.
Location: 369 Main St, Ogunquit, ME 03907

Raspberri’s
Open to the public in the Gorges Grant Hotel, Raspberri’s offers a year-round menu of breakfast classics and chef specials.
The latter category is chock-full of things like omelets, Benedicts, and create-your-own scrambles…but for my dollar, I’d go straight for the Banana Bread French Toast, perhaps with some corned beef hash to balance out all that sweet goodness.
Location: 449 Main St, Ogunquit, ME 03907

Mornings in Paris
Mornings in Paris roasts all their own coffee at their Kennebunk location—and you can sit out front on one of their delightful little bistro tables and watch the world go by in the center of Ogunquit.
While not expansive, the menu has just the right number of yummy items for you to pick both a sweet and a savory item, a made-to-order hot drink, and settle in for an hour or so of people-watching in the sunshine.
Egg-and-sausage breakfast sandwich with a blueberry teacake? Yes, please…
Location: 246 Main St, Ogunquit, ME 03907

Village Food Market
Need your morning meal or caffeine fix on the run? Then this is the place. Open year-round with only a few outdoor tables, getting your order to go is the only option.
The breakfast menu is surprisingly expansive for a take-out operation, and it is strongly suggested you call-in your order ahead of time.
And while all of their breakfast sandwiches, omelets, grill items, and wraps are amazing, I recommend the Steak and Egg wrap—eggs, shaved steak, peppers, onions, mushrooms, and cheese—for a real stick-to-your-ribs morning meal.

Backyard Coffeehouse and Eatery
This is the first of the seasonal establishments I’ll be reviewing here—and there are quite a few—so if you want to try any of them, be sure to check their websites before venturing out.
The Backyard offers a warm, rustic atmosphere for indoor seating and a bright outdoor patio as well to enjoy their short-but-sweet breakfast menu; perhaps a Maple Oat Scone and Egg Breakfast Bowl with a Double Shot Espresso?
Location: 178 Main St, Ogunquit, ME 03907

Egg & I Pancake and Waffle House
For over three decades, this local fixture has been offering abundant, fantastic fare to visitors and locals, all having waited impatiently for the doors to open again each spring.
And while they may call themselves a pancake and waffle house—which are amazing, I might add—the Egg & I also offers many other breakfast options, including omelets, combo plates, Benedicts, and house specialties…like the S.O.S.: Thinly-sliced beef in homemade cream sauce over toast, topped with two eggs.

The Omelette Factory
After 39 seasons, The Omelette Factory has pretty much got this whole breakfast thing down.
As per their name, the menu is pretty omelet-forward but is also full of other sp-egg-tacular (sorry) options.
Opening their doors every April 1st to hungry, eager, customers, The Omelette Factory offers cozy, homey seating and a long list of all things omelet-y—42 options, to be exact—including the signature Surf & Turf (steak and lobster).
Location: 422 Main St, Ogunquit, ME 03907

The Beach Basket
The seasonal, take-out-only Beach Basket offers a few breakfast items on its menu, each perfect for packing and enjoying at the beach, on a sidewalk bench in the sun, or on the front deck at your hotel.
Add ham and avocado to their Egg Sandwich, pair it with a fruit and yogurt parfait, and you’re good to go.
Location: 22 Shore Rd, Ogunquit, ME 03907

Loveshack Juicery
This seasonal, vegan café has been making their signature smoothies and bowls from scratch using only the freshest superfoods and gluten-free, non-dairy ingredients.
Now, don’t get me wrong—I love me a smoothie on a hot summer day—but I need a bit more oomph in my morning meal to get me going…so, if you’re like me, I suggest ordering one of their bowls.
And to add a wee bit of a dessert vibe to your breakfast, try the Gold Coast bowl: A mango, pineapple, and banana smoothie topped with GF granola, coconut, banana slices, raspberries, cacao nibs, and a honey drizzle.
Location: 68 Shore Rd, Ogunquit, ME 03907

Cove Café
Cozied up to the curb on the way into Perkins Cove, this homey little café has been family-run since opening their doors in 2001—and I must say they are sorely missed in the off-season.
With a full breakfast menu and perfect location, the Cove Café is fairly small, so get there early for a seat—especially in the height of summer.
And because I have too many favorite menu items here, I couldn’t narrow my suggestion down to just one: The Crab Cake Breakfast Sandwich, Lobster Frittata, and the Basil, Tomato, Sausage, and Mozzarella omelet are only three of many, many delightful options.
Location: 20 Perkins Cove Rd, Ogunquit, ME 03907

Last but not least, I couldn’t leave out a few of the weekend-brunch-only establishments in Ogunquit; be sure to check out their websites for updates and seasonal availability.
The Sunday brunch at Nikano’s is a feast for the senses, including creative Greek dishes like Baklava French Toast.
And both M.C. Perkins Cove and Food for Thought offer their brunch on Saturday and Sunday, with the former being more upscale with an elevated menu, and the latter providing a more classic, casual experience.
