Even without the liberal lubrication of libations, Old Orchard Beach is a rollicking romp of oceanfront fun and frivolity.
Visitors by the thousands flood this resort town every summer, increasing the population to almost eight times the number of year-round residents.
With its bright, flashy midway and beautiful, 7-mile-long stretch of sandy beach, OOB is a family-friendly destination, yes…but it’s also grown-up-friendly.
Whether you prefer a quiet table for two in a cozy lounge or the lively atmosphere of a dance club or sports bar, you’ll certainly find a wide variety of great bars in Old Orchard Beach.
Map of Old Orchard Beach Bars
This map shows off all the best hangout spots to grab a drink in Old Orchard Beach:
Pirates Patio & Galley
Pirates Patio doesn’t just have a happy hour…it’s called the “Party Like a Pirate Hour,” and it’s actually four hours’ worth of drink specials, like $1 Jell-O shots and $2 domestic drafts.
With plenty of HDTVs on hand for sports, a beachside patio, and a tempting list of craft cocktails, Pirates is a casual, come-as-you-are kind of place, with plenty of delicious food to go with your drinks.
Try the Pirates Punch: Coconut rum, melon liqueur, pineapple juice, orange juice, and a splash of grenadine. Arrrrrrrrgh, matey—that’s some fine grog!
Location: 2 Walnut St, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064

Surf 6
This nautically-themed seasonal spot features an actual lobster boat bow as its bar—how cool is that?
There is both indoor and outdoor seating—oceanfront, I might add—and you can enjoy live music on the patio every night, as well as during the day on the weekends.
Offering a large menu of comfort fare and a full-service bar, Surf 6 is a stone’s throw from the OOB pier and there are views from every seat in (and out of) the house.
If the weather is accommodating, opt to sit outside to enjoy your Tiki Torch cocktail (Island rum, banana and passion fruit liqueurs, pineapple juice, and lemonade) while watching the waves roll in.
Location: 2 Cortland Ave, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064

Myst Oceanside Restaurant & Lounge
Myst and The Tiki Hut, sister properties to Surf 6, are both seasonal and perfectly suited for waterfront relaxation with your favorite beverage of choice.
Myst has a fantastic food menu to complement their libations, like the Watermelon Martini; The Tiki Hut also serves amazing cocktails, like the Tiki Punch—coconut rum, banana rum, dark rum, pineapple and orange juice, and a float of grenadine—along with fresh seafood options from yet another sister property, Tacos & Tails.
Location: 1 E Grand Ave, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064

The Brunswick
Known locally as “The Swick,” this restaurant/sports bar/live entertainment/dance club venue has something for everyone.
Open all year and situated right on the beach, the Brunswick is the spot to head to for a lively evening with friends.
The pub-fare menu has plenty of appetizers, baskets, burgers, and sandwiches to banish the munchies you’ll be sure to experience after a few brews…and then try the Swick’s Funky Monkey cocktail for dessert: A frozen mudslide…with pureed banana.
Location: 39 W Grand Ave, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064

Taqueria 207
This family-owned, authentic Mexican-fare establishment is also a destination bar in its own right.
Because where there is excellent Mexican food, chances are excellent margaritas will follow.
Am I right? Taqueria makes its own house mix—no fake stuff from a giant plastic bottle here—and then the variations are endless.
A Spicy Jalapeño concoction is typically my go-to, but I also wouldn’t turn down their Blood Orange Margarita.
Location: 2 Ocean Park Rd, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064

Strike Zone Restaurant & Pub
Featuring a weekday happy hour from 3-6:30 (why don’t places call it “happy hours?”), the Strike Zone is family-owned and -operated.
Since 2007, folks have come to know this spot as the perfect place to watch a game, listen to some live, local music on weekends, and enjoy delicious tavern fare, beer, and cocktails.
If you enjoy a little sass in your glass, try the Grapefruit Jalapeño Martini alongside the Strike Zone’s “best on the beach” lobster roll.
Location: 20 Old Orchard St, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064

Duffy’s Tavern & Grill OOB
Duffy’s OOB is popular with locals and visitors alike; the bar is roomy and has plenty of seating, all in view of the multiple HDTVs for sports, and the dining room is perfect for families.
With a fully-stocked bar and a hearty food menu to match, Duffy’s provides a comfortable, welcoming space to enjoy a burger and a beer at the bar while watching the home team prevail (hopefully).
Location: 168 Saco Ave, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064

The Local Eatery & Tap
The Local Eatery has an abundance of reasons why it should be at the top of your OOB bar bucket list: Cool, industrial vibe; great views; live music on Wednesdays; indoor and outdoor seating; a fantastic menu; a rotating list of seasonal cocktails; daily drink and food specials; and 12 taps’ worth of domestic and local brews.
Be sure to check out Martini Night on Thursdays for some creatively delicious concoctions—did I hear someone say “Butter Pecan Martini?”
Location: 23 Washington Ave, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064

GFB Scottish Pub
OOB’s only brewpub—and Maine’s only Scottish bar—GFB is where folks stop in to just hang out, enjoy a few drinks, and have a great time.
Live music, foosball, pool, karaoke, darts, pub fare, and GFB’s own brews make for a well-rounded night out with friends or a fun-loving partner.
There is also an outdoor patio and plenty of seating at the bar and indoor dining area.
If you’re a fan of dark beer, try GFB’s Divorce Dollar Porter—it’s like a meal and a beverage all in one—or if you prefer a lighter brew, go for the Sweet Pea Cherry Wheat Ale.
Location: 32 Old Orchard St, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064

Rumorz Bistro
Calling themselves “the place where visitors become friends and locals become family,” Rumorz is a jack-of-all-trades kind of spot.
In addition to the diminutive, quirky bar, there are breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus on offer, with both indoor and outdoor seating available.
There is often live music scheduled, and the bar features a wide selection of fine wine, top-notch local and domestic beer, and a rotating list of craft cocktails.
Location: 198 E Grand Ave, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064

Top of the Pier Night Club
“A local hangout since 1898, where locals never pay a cover charge,” declares a banner on Top of the Pier’s homepage—what a concept!
This upscale dance club features incomparable views and a lively schedule of vacation-centric fun, like comedy nights, Latin Dance Night, Lobster Feast and Fireworks night, karaoke night…you get the picture.
Location: 2 Old Orchard St, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064
Website: Top of the Pier Night Club
As you can probably intuit by now, there are far too many bars for me to cover here.
But as always, I’m going to include a few more for you to click on and peek at so that you are properly armed with information the next time you’re looking for the best bar at Old Orchard Beach.
For enjoying casual eats and seats at the bar without venturing too far from the beach, Big Daddy’s, Uptown O’Leary’s Tap, The Whaler, Big Shots, and The Shack are all solid choices.
And for authentic Mexican fare and margaritas on the pier, Tequila Frogs is a seasonal favorite.
