And, as we all know, folks can be pretty divided about what constitutes the perfect pie. So, it’s a good thing you have plenty of pizza options in and around Bath, a city certainly worthy of at least an extended vacation weekend.
While you’re embarking on your pizza odyssey, be sure to take your time strolling through Bath’s downtown area—designated as a Main Street America community—because there’s a lot to discover here.
If you decide to venture to an establishment listed below in one of the neighboring towns, the distance from downtown Bath is noted.
Map Of Bath Pizza Restaurants
The map below shows the locations of every restaurant mentioned in this post:
Burano’s Wood-Fired Pizzeria
Stop into Burano’s (formerly Bruno’s), “where old-world-style pizza meets new-world flavors.” Repeat customers rave about the pizza, the service, and the atmosphere—which makes Burano’s a triple threat, in my estimation.
Featuring 8” and 12” specialty and signature pies as well as build-your-own pizza on the extensive menu, Burano’s has plenty of options to please everyone in your household—even a 10” gluten-free crust.
And while there are at least six pizzas I adore here, my favorite would have to be the Duck and Fig Signature Pie: A fig jam base with duck confit, goat cheese, and fried prosciutto, topped with arugula and a balsamic drizzle.
Location: 128 Front St, Bath, ME 04530

The Cabin
Heralded as “one of the best in New England” by The Boston Globe and home of the 28” Party Pizza, The Cabin is a Bath institution.
Located in an old rope mill across from the Bath Iron Works shipyards, The Cabin is a quaint, comfortable little pizza joint that’s been serving up their 10” and 14” pies—with homemade-daily, hand-tossed dough—since 1973.
The pizza offerings on the menu are plentiful; choose between 10 specialty pies or create your own from the list of 28 toppings. And if you’re not a pizza person, fear not, because there are plenty of other options on offer at The Cabin. There is also beer and wine available—and be sure to ask about the dessert pizza.
Location: 552 Washington St, Bath, ME 04530

Antigone’s Pizza Brunswick
Established in 2003, the folks at Antigone’s make their dough fresh every day. In addition to a host of other fare options, the menu here features 21 specialty pizzas, or you can choose from 18 standard or 12 premium toppings to build your own creation in either 10” or 14”.
I tend to like to leave the culinary wizardry to the experts, so I usually order one of the specialty pies—namely, the California Pizza, with garlic sauce, asparagus, artichokes, gorgonzola, tomato, and prosciutto. Oh, and tiramisu for dessert, of course.

Sam’s Italian Foods
With 12 other in-state locations, Sam’s is a chain, yes…but it’s a Maine chain, which makes all the difference. Owner Sam Bennett started out making salami Italians in 1939; he soon added other sandwiches, and when pizza joined the menu offerings in 1950, he never looked back.
Choose from three sizes (7” mini, 10” regular, or 14” large) of 12 special pies, or select from the list of 19 toppings to assemble your own pizza. Sam’s also has many other non-pizza offerings available, including pasta, calzone, dinner entrees, salads, soup, and dessert.
Why not order a Sam’s Loaded Pizza (speaks for itself) and then finish off your meal with a Peanut Butter Whoopie Pie?
Location: 4 Stevens Dr, Brunswick, ME 04011 (9 minutes)

Portland Pie Company
Another popular Maine franchise, the Portland Pie Company is always a solid option for pizza. Pies come in three sizes—10”, 14” thin, or 16”—but what I love most about Portland Pie is that you get to choose from four amazing crust flavors—basil, beer, garlic, or wheat—before you even start deciding on what pizza to get.
Then you move on to figuring out if you’re going to build your own pie by choosing from 33 toppings and cheeses—or go the lazy route and select one of the 18 specialty pizzas. As I mentioned earlier, I trust the pizza powers that be, so I always opt for the latter.
At Portland Pie, I try to mix it up as best I can, but I always seem to go back to the Bradbury Mountain on a wheat crust: Olive oil and garlic, three cheese blend, portobello, cremini, and button mushrooms, finished with arugula, goat cheese, and balsamic reduction.

OTTO
Also having originated as a local franchise, OTTO opened in Portland in 2009 and has since expanded into Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The lynchpin of OTTO’s success is the dough, which is never frozen; there is even an entire OTTO’s dough factory in Lynn, MA.
And because OTTO’s pretty much only does pizza, you can trust that they do it well. Really, really well. Pies come in 12” or 16” (or a 12” gluten-free crust), as well as an option to go “double-dough” for a $2 upcharge.
There are 8 vegetable and 11 meat signature pies (I love the mashed potato, bacon, & scallion pizza)—or you can create your own. Ask the friendly face behind the counter about the seasonal pie special, because $1 from every sale goes to help end childhood hunger in the area.
Location: 15 Cushing St, Brunswick, ME 04011 (10 minutes)

Joshua’s Restaurant & Tavern
Featuring indoor and outdoor seating as well as plenty of bar space, the pub menu at Joshua’s has an impressive offering of 12”, stone-oven-fired pizzas.
All $18 or less, the specialty pies are a bargain—and they’re all fantastic…although I’m a big fan of the Joshua’s Tavern Original (no red sauce): Prosciutto, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, Italian cheese blend, olive oil, and oregano. You can also create your own pizza from the list of 33 toppings and cheeses.

Pat’s Pizza Brunswick
Offering “friendly, casual, and affordable dining for the whole family,” Pat’s has 15 locations in Maine. With dine-in, take-out, and delivery service available for the expansive menu, you can choose to enjoy your pizza in your pajamas at home, with your fam in the dining area, or at the bar while watching a game.
Pies come in 9” or 14”, and you can choose between single, double, whole wheat, and low carb crusts, as well as several gluten-free and vegan options. Build your own pizza if you want from 32 traditional and 14 signature toppings…but when it comes to combination and signature pizzas, Pat’s is the champion; you’ll have 14 combination and 17 signature pies to sift through.
Let me make your job easier—order the Big Pat: Double dough, 1000 island dressing, pickles, onions, ground beef, and pizza cheese.
Location: 112 Pleasant St, Brunswick, ME 04011 (12 minutes)

Scarlet Begonias
Made by folks with a passion for homemade food and The Grateful Dead, the pizza at Scarlet Begonias is something special. Every pie starts out with hand-stretched, house-made dough, and is baked directly on a pizza stone.
There are nine pies on offer, with an upcharge for any topping substitutions—but chances are you won’t need to make any changes. I’m currently enamored with Phoebe’s Feast: Roasted Garlic, red peppers, feta, Kalamata olives, and a parmesan cheese blend topped with fresh herbs.
Location: 16 Station Ave, Brunswick, ME 04011 (13 minutes)
