artesian pizza from a restaurant in ogunquit maine Originally settled in 1641 as a village of Wells, Ogunquit means “beautiful place by the sea” in Abenaki—and rightly so.

Ogunquit Beach is consistently rated as one of the top 25 beaches in the country by Tripadvisor—but it isn’t only the waterfront that makes this seaside haven attractive to so many.

Ogunquit’s enviable combination of being both family-friendly and LBGTQ-inclusive draws visitors by the thousands every year—and the town has plenty of lodging, shopping, and dining options to meet every need…including an admirable array of mouth-watering pizza establishments.

The map below shows the locations of every restaurant mentioned in this post:

Ogunquit House of Pizza

Pretty much every town has one—the iconic “house of pizza”—and Ogunquit is no different.

Fast, friendly counter service with plenty of dine-in seating, this family-owned local favorite has no particular aesthetic or décor to speak of (other than the “classic pizza joint” look, that is), but they don’t need it, because their pizza speaks for itself—no “vibe” needed.

And Ogunquit House of Pizza’s menu is just as classic as their establishment; while they do have some specialty pies (give the Zoe a try: Ranch base with chicken and bacon), this spot seems to rely on their customers to make their own original combination from the long list of regular and premium toppings available.

Pies come in 10” and 16”, and there is also a gluten-free crust option. And for those non-pizza folks in your group (who ARE these people, and why do you associate with them?), there are plenty of subs, sandwiches, salads, and pasta on offer, as well.

La Pizzeria

With both indoor and outdoor seating available, this seasonal hotspot makes its signature, family recipe, New York-style pizza from fresh, house-made-daily dough and sauce.

Their menu features 18 specialty pies, or you can choose from 19 toppings to craft your own magical creation.

La Pizzeria offers pizzas in either 12” or 16”, and they also have calzones, pasta dinners, salads, appetizers, and sandwiches.

But back to the pizza…La Pizzeria offers dine-in, delivery, and take-out service; I suggest you order the Lobster White Pizza—because you ARE in Maine, after all—along with a glass of their house Pinot Grigio.

Cornerstone Artisanal Pizza and Craft Beer

Their name says it all—they’re all about the pizza and beer, here. And this establishment definitely has an aesthetic—rustic-industrial-chic—very warm, welcoming, and comfortable.

Their made-to-order pizzas are cooked in a stone oven using only the freshest ingredients—like house-made dough and sausage, locally-sourced produce, and Maine lobster—all alongside a curated list of local and international craft brews.

And Cornerstone’s pizza menu is all about specialty pies, so if you’re looking to build your own pizza, this isn’t the place.

Also notable: While they do offer the “Obligatory Cheese” pie for pizza lovers that don’t want their cheese surface cluttered with toppings, you’d have to be crazy not to try at least one of their creative signature pies; for me, it’d be a toss-up between the Sweet Chicken Fig (rosemary-roasted pulled chicken, fig-mascarpone puree base, figs, mozzarella blend, and balsamic-fig reduction drizzle) or The Loaded Potato (mashed potato base, bacon, cheddar-mozzarella blend, adobo sour cream, and scallions).

Pizza Napoli

A Naples-style, brick-oven pizzeria, this seasonal local favorite offers both indoor and outdoor seating, has a full bar, and serves up house-made marinara sauce and desserts.

Largely recognizable by its puffy, billowy crust, Naples (or Neapolitan) pizza typically doesn’t include toppings other than cheese…but I’m certainly not going to complain about their specialty pies or list of fresh toppings, because these pizzas are AMAZING.

And while my first choice was to recommend their Aragosta (lobster) pizza, I’ve already sung the praises of another similar pie in this article…so how about you order the Supremo (red sauce, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, hamburger, sausage, pizza cheese, and scallions) instead?

Just make sure you bring a forklift to carry it to your car…

Caffé Prego

Surrounded by beautiful gardens and located just outside the bustle of the Ogunquit town center, Caffé Prego is a seasonal gem that brings customers back year after year; their outdoor seating is tucked under a bright awning, and the season is extended by a state-of-the-art heating system.

Indoor seating is also available for this little “taste of Italy in Maine” bistro—and if you’re a fan of thin crust, brick-oven pizza, then you’ve come to the right place.

All of the pies at Caffé Prego are 11” and topped with their house cheese blend—and while you can opt to curate your own creative pizza from their extensive list of vegetable and meat toppings, you should know by now that I always recommend a signature pie…and right now is no different.

Give the Al Funghi e Salsiccia pie a go: Seasoned mushrooms, Italian sausage, Vidalia onion, and brick oven-roasted peppers.

That Place in Ogunquit

I love the name of this upscale, urban-chic restaurant so much that I’d probably lie and tell you they had pizza even if they didn’t. But they do—so no need for me to stoop to such lowly tactics.

In addition to a full menu of appetizers, entrees, sandwiches, and desserts, That Place also offers several cast-iron-cooked mini-pizzas; think deep dish, magical, melty goodness for one.

I strongly suggest you give their Big Mac Pizza a shot: House sauce, ground beef, pickles, mozzarella, and shredded iceberg lettuce.

It’s like the signature burger from a certain golden-arch-bearing fast food joint in pizza form…and, better yet, you can order a cocktail to go with it! Winner, winner, pizza dinner!

Patio 03907

Located just behind the iconic Old Village Inn, this new, come-as-you-are restaurant features a rooftop deck and indoor dining room—and they boast being “the only indoor/outdoor restaurant with ocean views on Main Street in Ogunquit.”

The extensive menu is seafood-centric, of course, and includes seafood baskets, po’boys, dinners, rolls, and sandwiches; their pizza offerings also skew similarly—but there are a few options for those that do not partake of our finned (or shelled) friends.

If you are not of the latter variety, however, you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t order the Bourdain Pizza: Fried oysters drizzled with a Thai chili sauce.

The Front Porch

One of my favorite spots in Ogunquit, The Front Porch features several different dining areas…but my favorite is the piano bar upstairs.

The menu is the same in all three areas and includes a carefully curated selection of appetizers, pub fare, salads, entrees—and flatbreads.

Whether you tend to stick with a more basic sort of flatbread (like the Margherita—tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and marinara) or lean toward the wild side of the pizza pie (such as the Pumpkin Flatbread—pumpkin goat cheese mousse, fried sage, bacon, parmesan, and balsamic reduction), The Front Porch is sure to please either palate.
