Flavors and fare from all around the world seem to have settled here—and I’m not just talking one or two ethnic options.
Indian, Thai, Irish, Chinese, Mexican, Greek, Italian, German, Japanese, Vietnamese…oh, yeah—and American.
Map Of Brunswick Restaurants
The map below shows the locations of every restaurant mentioned in this post:
Enoteca Athena
Our first stop in this worldly dining tour of Brunswick is Italy—er, well, Italian fare, anyway. One step into this warm, rustic space filled with convivial chatter and delightful aromas will trigger an instant “Oh, I love this place!” response.
Enoteca’s menu is constantly changing with available local ingredients, but rest assured that anything you choose will be filled with homemade goodness. (Although I’d be remiss not to suggest ordering their signature Chicken Parmesan.)
Location: 97 Maine St, Brunswick, ME 04011

The Great Impasta
This family-friendly spot is another fantastic option for Italian fare. The Great Impasta (such a great name, too) has been offering traditional Italian fare in a casual dining space for over 30 years.
Their extensive lunch and dinner offerings change with the seasons and include such seafood-centric specialties as lobster fettuccine, shrimp primavera, and seafood lasagna—along with a long list of other traditional Italian entrees.
Location: 42 Maine St, Brunswick, ME 04011

Little Tokyo
Off to Japan! Little Tokyo features an impressive offering of made-to-order sushi, yes—but their menu encompasses far more than just raw fish. Their lunchtime Bento Boxes and stir-fried noodle dishes are wildly popular, as are their tempura, Katsu, and teriyaki options.
But being a ginormous sushi fan, I can’t help but recommend the Little Tokyo Yacht for 2 (~30 pieces of assorted Maki, Nigiri, and Sashimi) …and mochi for dessert, of course!
Location: 72 Maine St, Brunswick, ME 04011

Taverna Khione
…and, now we’ve arrived in Greece! Taverna Khione’s menu of authentic Greek fare is a marvel of flavors and textures, starting with a sharing course (or mezethes) of their house-made rustic bread and six different Greek dips and spreads to choose from.
Move on to a course of Dolmathes (grape leaves filled with beef, rice, and mint with Greek yogurt), and then for the main attraction, order the Htapodi Pastitsio (baked Greek pasta topped with cinnamon-tomato-braised octopus and béchamel).
Location: 25 Mill Rd, Brunswick, ME 04011

Richard’s Restaurant
It’s hard to intuit what sort of fare is served at an establishment with an unassuming name like “Richard’s Restaurant.” So, let me enlighten you to the fact we are now in Germany, folks! Serving up traditional German favorites alongside a few American classics, Richard’s atmosphere exudes old-world charm and warmth.
The menu is full of familiar (and some not-so-familiar) German entrees, sides, and desserts; if you’re feeling adventurous, try the Holsteinschnitzel (breaded pork tenderloin topped with a sunny-side-up egg, anchovies, and smoked salmon canapés).
Location: 115 Maine St, Brunswick, ME 04011

Lemongrass
Ready for some out-of-this-world Vietnamese cuisine? If you’ve never partaken of this particular delight, you are in for an odyssey of the palate.
Lemongrass has even made things easy for rookies by adding pronunciations to their expansive menu so that you don’t sound as green as you are.
For newbies, I suggest starting with a bowl of Phò (pronounced fuh); the broth is seasoned with onion, ginger, cinnamon, and star anise—and then you choose the ingredients that will go into it.
Location: 212 E Maine St, Brunswick, ME 04011

Bolos Kitchen, Cantina, and Candlepins
Just like that, we’re in Mexico. And we’re bowling—what an excelente combination!
The Bolos menu is filled with bowls, entrees, and shareable plates, all made-to-order for you to enjoy while bowling a few strings with friends and family.
Give the Bolos Burger (topped with jalapeños, bacon, and hatch chili queso) a try, along with a Bolos Silver Margarita Martini.
Location: 7 Dunlap St, Brunswick, ME 04011

Bombay Mahal
Our worldly whirlwind has now whisked us off to India! Since 1991, Bombay Mahal has consistently won all manner of industry awards and is the oldest Indian restaurant in Maine.
The welcoming, colorful interior is typically the perfect companion to the variety of flavorful fare on the extensive menu, although as of this writing in March 2022, Bombay Mahal’s dine-in option was still on hold due to Covid. But thankfully, they offer both take-out and delivery.
Location: 99 Maine St, Brunswick, ME 04011

Byrnes Irish Pub
On to the Emerald Isle! A true tavern-style establishment, Byrnes doesn’t miss a McSchtick; from the Guinness, Smithwick’s, and Murphy’s bar mirrors to the Céad Míle Faílte sign, there’ll be no wondering what sort of fare will be on the menu.
Do yourself a favor and start with an order of Bangers and Guinness Bread (2 Irish sausages grilled with a slice of house Guinness bread) before filling the rest of your belly with a crock of Irish Onion Soup (Guinness onion soup topped with melted sharp Irish cheddar and bleu cheese).
Location: 16 Station Ave, Brunswick, ME 04011

Maine St. Steak & Oyster
Our international tour has ended—we’re stateside again! And when you walk into Maine St. Steak & Oyster, you’ll be glad to be home.
The high, tin ceilings, warm wood flooring, and original molding of this architectural gem are the perfect counterpoint to the fresh, contemporary fare featured on the menu here.
And since they’re both in the name, I strongly suggest you give their specialties a try: Start with a half-dozen oysters and then move on to the Flank Steak Frites.
Location: 148 Maine St, Brunswick, ME 04011

Joshua’s
Family-friendly, comfortable, and casual, Joshua’s has been a local fixture for over 30 years. The staff is cheerful and welcoming (“our staff may appear to be having fun, but that’s because they enjoy working here”), and the menu is large and full of classic American comfort food.
Soups, salads, appetizers, nachos, burgers, sandwiches, seafood entrees, pizza…I could go on, but how about you just take a peek yourself?
Location: 123 Maine St, Brunswick, ME 04011

Pepper’s Landing
Abundant servings of fresh, local seafood at affordable prices. What more could you ask for? How about a bright, energetic atmosphere and helpful, friendly staff?
Whether you’re craving a quick nibble or a full-on shore dinner, Pepper’s menus won’t disappoint.
And while there are a few non-seafood items, it’s mostly all about the critters with fins, claws, or shells. Pro tip: Head right to the “Pepper’s Specials” section and order the Lobster Mac and Cheese.
Location: 147 Bath Rd, Brunswick, ME 04011

Noble Kitchen and Bar
Tucked inside the Brunswick Hotel, this elevated eatery prides itself on a “modern approach to classic American dishes…and coastal cuisine.” Offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus in addition to a full bar and patio with a fire pit, Noble ticks all the right boxes.
This cozy gastro-pub has indoor and outdoor seating—and I highly recommend beginning your visit with any of their seasonal craft cocktails, because these folks are mixologist masters.
Location: 4 Noble St, Brunswick, ME 04011
Website: Noble Kitchen and Bar
Too many restaurants, too little space…but because I just can’t bear to leave anyone out, please be sure to consider all of these just-as-worthy establishments during your next visit to Brunswick.
