There’s something about eating at the beach that just makes any meal taste even better—but especially when it’s pizza.
Being a coastal resort destination, the town of York (including its surrounding areas: York Beach, Cape Neddick, and York Harbor) experiences a population boom during the summertime.
This means there is always a need for plentiful consumer amenities like lodging, attractions, and a variety of restaurant options, especially for quick and casual vacation dining…like pizza!
Map of York Pizza Places
This map features all of the pizza places in York and the surrounding areas that we’ve mentioned in this post:
York 54
It’s a pizza odyssey when you order from York 54; prepare to embark on a journey of gastric joy just perusing their pie options.
Start by deciding whether or not you want to share; if the answer is “no,” opt for a personal pizza. Otherwise, you can also choose from a 12” or 16” (or two) to divvy up. Then comes the hard part: Deciding which pizza to get.
Choose from 22 creative specialty and classic pies or build your own pizza—either way, you’re a winner.
My top pick is the Sweet Fig and Salami pizza: Salami with fig preserves, caramelized onions, arugula, and brie.

Woody’s Brick Oven Pizza
Whether you love traditional New York- or Sicilian-style brick oven pizza, head to this seasonal hot spot near Short Sands Beach—because they make both types here.
The dough is made fresh, in-house, every morning—and you can watch your pie being hand-tossed and prepped from the dining room.
Every topping is homemade or hand-sliced—the fresh oregano is even dried in-house! Woody’s also has calzones, pasta dinners, Stromboli, subs, and salads to round out your pizza party—and if you ask me which pie is the best here, I’d have to go with the Southside: Mexican beef, homemade salsa, and jack cheese all topped with shredded lettuce, black olives, red onion, jalapeños, and sour cream.
Location: 11 Railroad Ave, York, ME 03909

Dante’s Pizza Company
Detroit-style pizza is a unique animal; the tangy sauce goes over the cheese, and the pie is baked in an 8”x10” rectangular pan, providing the pizza with a crispy base…and Dante’s is all about the Detroit pizza experience.
The menu offers 13 Classic and 6 Specialty pies, and you can also get any of the 19 aforementioned pizzas as flatbreads or gluten-free.
Give Dante’s CBR pie a try if you’re feeling hangry: Hand-breaded chicken tenders and thick-cut bacon on top of the house cheese blend—and ranch dressing for dipping.
Location: 2 US-1, York, ME 03909

Ruby’s Wood Grill
Like peanut butter and jelly, sports and pizza just go together.
For the best of both worlds, head to Ruby’s, where you can catch New England sports on their five flat-screen TVs as you enjoy an ice-cold beer and your favorite wood-fired pie.
For seating, choose from the newly-renovated indoor dining room, a spacious outdoor patio, and bar seating. Ruby’s menu is chock-full of delicious, homemade pub fare, and the pizzas come in one size only—12”.
There are 16 specialty pizzas and a “build it your way” option with 24 toppings to choose from. As always, I’ll recommend a specialty pie, The Philly: An American cheese base, shaved steak, mushrooms, onions, peppers, topped with the house cheese blend.
Location: 433 US-1, York, ME 03909

Sand Dollar Bar & Grille
This seasonal piano bar and bistro is very popular with both locals and visitors, situated alongside the hustle and bustle of York Beach Village.
The menu is well-rounded and features four delicious wood-fired pizzas, big enough for sharing with a salad.
There is a dining room as well as a busy game room/sports bar area where you can catch a game on TV or play one yourself (foosball, pool, and shuffleboard, that is)—and you can also eat out on the Sand Dollar’s iconic balcony, where live music and the sound of the waves will accompany your meal.
The Jalapeño Sausage pie is a festival of fiery flavor, and I strongly suggest giving it a whirl: Pickled jalapeños with house-made sausage.
Location: 2 Beach St, York, ME 03909

The Bluff Pub
One of the dining options at the historic Union Bluff Hotel overlooking Short Sands Beach, The Bluff Pub is the more casual of the two in-house restaurants at this local icon.
With a variety of elevated pub fare on offer, the menu here includes three house-made flatbreads; the simplicity of the carefully-selected toppings and seasonings allows the flavor of every ingredient to shine.
Choose from the Margherita, Mushroom, or Sausage pie—I suggest the latter: Garlic cheese sausage, mascarpone, mozzarella, and roasted tomatoes.

The York Beach Bucket
Centrally located directly across from the Short Sands Beach parking lot, the York Beach Market is the ideal spot for you to grab a few brick oven pizzas to enjoy with friends on your sand chairs while watching the waves roll in.
The pies are made-to-order using local dough and house-made sauce; order your signature or build-your-own pizza by the slice, or opt for either the 12” or 16”.
And if you are going to eat it on the beach, why not get something tropical, like the Bucket’s Hawaiian pie? House tomato sauce topped with Italian cheese, fresh ham, and pineapple.
Surf’s up, dude!

Anthony’s Food Shop
Since 1989, Anthony’s has been churning out award-winning pizzas from their state-of-the-art, stone hearth pizza oven—and whether you dine in, order for delivery, or take your meal home, you’re going to love every bite.
The dough and sauces are made from scratch every morning, and the menu will have your mouth watering at the get-go.
Create your own signature masterpiece from 31 regular or premium toppings and four homemade sauces—or take the lazy man’s route and feast your eyes on the specialty pies.
And if you’re going to forget about that diet for a day, go big or go home and order the Foghorn Leghorn: Fried Chicken, chili sauce, banana peppers, manchego cheese, pickles, and ranch dressing.
Location: 679 US-1, York, ME 03909

Inn on the Blues
Another spot ideally located across from Short Sands Beach, the restaurant at Inn on the Blues features a casual menu of upscale tavern fare—including four delightful flatbreads, perfect for sharing.
With live music, karaoke nights, and a lively atmosphere, the Inn is a great spot to meet up with friends for a leisurely meal with craft cocktails.
I suggest trying the Fig Prosciutto pizza (fig jam, gorgonzola, mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, and fig balsamic drizzle) with a house Inn Punch (coconut and pineapple rum with pineapple and orange juice, grenadine, and a dark rum float).

The Ship’s Cellar Pub
Tucked below the York Harbor Inn, the Ship’s Cellar is like going below-deck on a luxury schooner, complete with glowing wood joinery, plush seating, and shining brass fixtures.
There are four gourmet, house-made flatbreads on offer here, and additional toppings, as well as a gluten-free crust, are also available.
But if you want to complete the whole nautical-themed experience during your visit here, then you must order the Lobster Flatbread: Maine lobster, house sauce and 3-cheese blend, and chives.
Location: 480 York St, York Harbor, ME 03911
