fresh, crispy Boothbay pizza
There is a lot to love about Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor; whether you’re in the area for an extended vacation, or perhaps just taking a day trip to the Boothbay Botanical Gardens, you’ll find all manner of shops, galleries, lodging, and restaurants in these two seaside towns.

Of course, included in your dining options, there is a hearty selection of pizza establishments—or at least restaurants that also happen to serve fantastic pizza. Here’s a rundown of taste-worthy options for you—enjoy!

Map of Pizza Places in Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor

Whether you’re looking for pizza in Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, or couldn’t care less which you pick, this list of the pizza places in this article will help you pinpoint your next favorite joint:

Ports Pizzeria

A spinoff from Ports of Italy (a popular, upscale Italian restaurant on Commercial Street in Boothbay Harbor, with another location in Rockport), Ports Pizzeria proudly boasts of using “some of the best ingredients on Earth,” and they’re not kidding.

Italian flour and mozzarella cheese, San Marzano tomatoes, and local produce are just a few items of note used in creating their mouth-watering pies.

And while their pizza menu isn’t extensive, there are just the right number of flavor-forward pies to provide a variety of options—including the delightfully zippy Diavola Pizza: San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, soppressata di parma, and shaved parmesan cheese.

Boothbay Harbor House of Pizza

This local favorite has been serving up pizza since 1993, making dough and sauce fresh every morning.

Pizzas come in two sizes, with a dozen specialty pies (including a Loaded French Fry Pizza—whaaaaaat?!) and 20 toppings to choose from.

They also serve “stuffed pizzas,” which I can only describe as the Double Stuff Oreo version of deep-dish pizza—double the toppings surrounded by a thick twist of crust to hold it all in. This is true pizza alchemy, people.

East Boothbay General Store

On vacation and just don’t want to cook? Stop into EBGS and pick up a fresh, hot pizza (or two) to go and a bottle of wine (or two).

Made to order from fresh, local ingredients, the pizzas at this local mercantile come in 12” and 16” (also a 10” gluten-free version).

There are 12 signature pies to choose from, and you can also create your own specialty pie by selecting your favorite toppings from the “build your own” section of the menu.

For a kicky, meatless reboot of a popular favorite, try the Buffalo Cauliflower and Blue Cheese Pizza: House-made white sauce, buffalo cauliflower, blue cheese crumbles, and scallions.

The Dory Pub

Located at The Thistle Inn, this cozy tavern features a delightful menu of pub fare—including flatbread pizza.

No need for reservations if you are able to snag a seat at the bar—and as I always say, pizza (or let’s face it—food, in general) always tastes better when you sit at the bar.

No specialty pizzas here—simply choose from red or white sauce and select from 15 topping options to create your own signature pie.

Boothbay Craft Brewery, Taphouse & RV

The farm-to-table, organic, wood-fired pizzas available at this multi-faceted (microbrewery, pub, and RV resort) establishment are flavor sensations.

There are only 6 options—no build-your-own section—but I’m going to wager you won’t find the pizza selection lacking.

If you’re a back-to-basics kind of person, there’s always the Classic Cheese pie…but if you’re the adventurous type, go for the Sweet & Sassy: Red sauce, 3-cheese blend, house-made garlic chili oil, chili pepper flakes, pepperoni, hand-pulled Italian sausage, and caramelized sweet onions.

Mine Oyster

I know, right? Who’d of thunk you could get amazing pizza at a seasonal oyster place? But the thin crust, wood-oven-fired pizzas at Mine Oyster are hugely popular in Boothbay Harbor.

All of the pies here are made with garlic-olive oil crusts, house-made sauces, and topped with mozzarella, cheddar, provolone, and parmesan cheese blend (unless otherwise noted).

There are nine specialty pies—including my favorite, the Sausage and Korean BBQ pizza (with house-made sausage, grilled pineapple, Korean BBQ sauce, and cheddar-jack cheese)—and a build-your-own menu, as well; choose from fourteen toppings—including Maine lobster.

Pier 1 Pizza & Pub

This waterfront hot spot has daily happy hours, and in-season, you can enjoy your pizza and beer right on the pier and watch the boats come in.

Since 2001, Pier 1 has been a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, thanks to the reasonable pricing, comfortable atmosphere, and hearty pub fare. Pizzas come in three sizes—12”, 16”, and 20”—including a 12” gluten-free option.

The names of the 13 signature pies will be familiar to any baseball/Red Sox fans out there; my go-to pie is the Teddy Ballgame: Mustard base, mozzarella, hamburger, red onion, pickles, and a ketchup drizzle.
You can also choose from 23 toppings if you prefer creating your own pizza concoction.

Coastal Prime

Located at the Boothbay Harbor Oceanside Golf Resort, Coastal Prime is touted as “Boothbay Harbor seaside dining at its best.” But don’t let that fool you into thinking you’ll only find gourmet cuisine and full-on entrée dinners here.

Here’s the secret: Eat in the bar. It has a separate menu (which is identical to the restaurant’s lunch menu) that includes several delightful personal flatbread pizzas.

I recommend the Pepperoni Pizza, an arugula salad, and a glass of red wine.

Seafarer’s Pub

This cozy tavern is actually part of the Whale’s Tale Restaurant…which, in turn, is part of the Carousel Marina.

And if you want pizza, be sure to go to the pub—because there isn’t any on the restaurant’s menu.

The Seafarer’s Pub menu is diminutive, yes—but it doesn’t matter which one of the four personal flatbread pizzas you order, because they all are delicious (especially the Seafood Pizza, with lobster, shrimp, clams, and scallops with Alfredo sauce).

The pies are sized—and priced—just right, especially if you order some Fried Mushrooms to start with.

Hometown Convenience

Locally awarded “Best Pizza in Boothbay,” Hometown Convenience offers fast and fresh takeout pizza, made to order.

There is outdoor seating available in-season, but most folks bring their prized pies home to enjoy.

Hometown Convenience not only offers traditional pies but also features a hugely popular breakfast pizza.

Pies come in 10” and 16”; there is a build-your-own option with 17 topping choices, as well as seven specialty pies (the Hawaiian Pizza is especially delicious here).

Location: 107 Eastern Ave, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538

I have just a few more Boothbay pizza places I’d like to mention. The Carriage House Restaurant has a popular “pizza night” every Thursday; certainly notable, because their flatbread pizzas and craft cocktails are spectacular.

The Footbridge Brewery has a scrumptious personal cheese pizza on their taproom menu, the perfect nibble to accompany one of their beer flights.

Uncle Phil’s Bake Shop makes a mean wood-fired pizza; the menu changes daily, and you never know what they’re cooking up, so check their webpage for updates on which pies they’re serving.
