Cuzzy’s

Camden is one of the most iconic, oceanfront resort towns in Maine…so you can rest assured you’ll have no problems tracking down Maine’s most iconic fare—the lobster roll.

Camden and the surrounding areas present the questing traveler with many spots that feature spectacular views where you can enjoy these delectable crustacean marvels; regardless of whether you’re a lobster roll purist (minimal mayo, no lettuce, split top roll) or are all about jazzing things up with a spicy aioli or brioche roll, you’ll find it here.

If you’re craving fresh seafood, this map of lobster roll restaurants is right up your alley.

Cuzzy’s Restaurant

Cuzzy’s is where to go for “good food, good fun,” and good lobster rolls. Casual to the core, Cuzzy’s lobster roll is delicious no matter where you eat it…but I think it is best enjoyed at a table on the back porch, or perhaps upstairs in the bar while playing a game of pool.

The roll here comes with fries and is served on a brioche roll; the fresh-picked lobster meat is dressed in a bit of mayo and nestled on a bed of lettuce.

Oh, and Cuzzy’s also has a Lobster Quesadilla, if you’re feeling a bit adventurous.

Marriner’s Restaurant

This local fixture is family-friendly and offers both indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy your lobster roll.

Served with chips, the Marriner’s version comes on a brioche bun and is loaded with huge chunks of lobster meat lightly tossed in mayo—no lettuce.

The atmosphere here is uber-casual, and many reviewers claim you get far more lobster for the price than most other establishments they’ve visited.

Sit out on the deck overlooking the Megunticook River Falls if the weather is nice—it’s the next best thing to an ocean view.

Location: 35 Main St, Camden, ME 04843

The Waterfront

Touting their location as having the best view in town, the folks at The Waterfront really know how to do seafood right—especially their lobster rolls.

The lobster comes directly from local lobster boats and is then hand-picked, tossed in a bit of mayo, and served on a buttered, split-top roll with green leaf lettuce and parsley.

The Waterfront is open year-round, so you can enjoy your roll on the deck overlooking the water in the summer, or by the blazing fireplace inside during those dark winter days…either way, you’ll love every bite.

Harbor Dogs

This seasonal take-out-only favorite has been serving up delicious hot dogs, fried seafood, and tacos for over 50 years…but that’s not what we’re here to drool over today.

Harbor Dogs also has one of the most delicious lobster rolls in town—which always seems to be the case for these seafood-shack-style establishments.

Served in a grilled hot dog roll (of course) with a bit of lettuce, the tail and claw pieces are tossed lightly with mayo—big enough that you just might want to eat it with a fork until the roll is manageable otherwise.

It’s what I do every time, because it prolongs the enjoyment factor, rather than wolfing it all down in six enormous bites.

Peter Ott’s on the Water

No matter where you want to enjoy your lobster roll—on the deck looking at the water, at the bar, or inside by the fieldstone hearth, Peter Ott’s has you covered.

The lobster roll on this seafood-forward menu starts with a grilled, split-top hot dog bun—and then it’s stuffed to the point of bursting with local lobster meat tossed in lemon aioli and served with russet or sweet potato fries.

The Camden Deli

With deck views of both Harbor Falls and Camden Harbor, this casual eatery has been crafting made-to-order breakfast, lunch, and dinner since 1985.

All of the fare here is fresh and delicious—especially the lobster roll.

Expect huge pieces of local lobster meat tossed in a little bit of mayo and piled onto lettuce in a toasted, split-top hot dog roll.

Scott’s Place

More akin to a shed than a shack, this diminutive take-out spot has been dishing up burgers, seafood, and lobster rolls since 1974. Now, that’s longevity!

They must be doing something right…like making mouthwatering lobster rolls for a reasonable price.

The lobster meat is tossed with a bit more mayo than most places and is served in a grilled, split-top hot dog bun with a bit of lettuce.

Don’t bother trying to check their webpage for details—there is little to no information available on the Facebook page. But all you need is the address—and an appetite.

Sea Dog Brewing Company

With locations in Maine, New Hampshire, and Florida (???), the Camden Sea Dog Brewing Company is centrally located and features both indoor and waterfront deck dining—the latter being the perfect situation to enjoy a lobster roll and locally crafted house brew.

Your split-top, butter-grilled hot dog roll will be overflowing with fresh lobster meat tossed lightly in mayo with a leaf or two of lettuce and served with chips or fries.

Graffam Brothers Seafood Shack

Located just over the southern border of Camden in Rockport, this glorified trailer sits outside the Graffam Brothers Seafood Market.

The lobster roll is one of the most affordable in the area and is crammed with fresh-picked, local lobster meat tossed with a bit of mayo in a grilled, buttery hot dog bun, served with chips. No lettuce, no frills.

Location: 211 Union St, Rockport, ME 04856

Offshore Restaurant

Also located just south of Camden in Rockport, the casual, family-style Offshore Restaurant serves up a simple and delicious lobster roll.

The large pieces of fresh meat are dressed in drawn butter and piled into a grilled, buttered hot dog roll with no lettuce, served with French fries.

It’s all about the lobster, here, folks—but if you prefer mayo, just ask.

Location: 770 Commercial St, Rockport, ME 04856

Claws

Just a bit further south in Rockland, this seasonal, take-out lobster shack is less than a 15-minute drive from the center of Camden—certainly doable if you’re craving one of Claws’ amazing lobster rolls above all others. With a huge deck overlooking the Rockland Harbor, Claws is the perfect spot to enjoy your crustacean creation—which has been voted Rockland’s Best for seven years running.

Their award-winning version fills a buttered, grilled New England-style roll with huge, lightly mayo’d chunks of local lobster meat. No greenery in this bad boy.

You can also order yours “flatlandah style” (read: with drawn butter instead of mayo).

Location: 743 Main St, Rockland, ME 04841

Hill’s Seafood Company

Just a 3-minute drive south of Claws, this seasonal restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating, and their lobster roll is a classic.

Served with fries and coleslaw, you’ll find your buttered and grilled, New England-style bun abundantly filled with barely-dressed-with-mayo lobster meat—no lettuce.

Pro tip: Get a side of Boom Boom Baby Shrimp to go with your roll for a full-on crustacean celebration.
